Eastman Kodak has announced that it will acquire ENCAD, a maker of wide-format inkjet printers, for US$25 million. The deal will make ENCAD a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kodak, and will boost Kodak’s profits while placing the company among the top three sellers of wide-format inkjet products.

Wind River Systems has awarded Apple its “Cool Customer Design” for the recently introduced AirPort 2. AirPort 2’s base station features Wind River’s Tornado for Home Gateways integrated development platform technology and WindNet RADIUS user access control software.

Pitney Bowes Office Systems has introduced the DL270, a 25 page-per-minute multi-function copier, printer, fax and scanner. Features include duplexing, collating, two or three hole punching and multiple position stapling; Scan to E-mail and Scan to File features for quickly transmitting scanned documents; and support for a wide range of operating systems, including Mac OS 7.5.3 or later and Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT.
