Proteron has released N2MP3 Pro 2.1b7, the latest version of their professional MP3 audio encoding utility. No details were available on what changes are included with this release.

Koingo Software has released a new version of their secure (encrypted) password utility that will let you store and categorize your passwords for just about anything — email, voicemail and more. Password Retriever 2.7, which is priced at US$11.95, offers a number of new features and bug fixes.

Apple has pulled the iPod Updater 1.0.3 software, which was initially released this past Friday. Apple’s Web site now states, “The iPod Software Updater 1.0.3 has been temporarily removed due to incompatibilities with “blue and white” Power Macintosh G3 systems. A new version which addresses the issue will be posted shortly.”

PrefsOverload 3.5, a tool for managing your Preferences Folder, is now available. This release works with Mac OS Classic or Mac OS X and offers a number of new features to the application. Some parts of the source code have been totally rewritten, improving stability and speed according to the press release. PrefsOverload is US$15 shareware.

MacAfee has released Virex Virus Definitions for December (for Virex 7.0 only) and January (Virex 5.9.x & 6.x), as noted by VersionTracker.
