With the provocative tag line, “Even though OS X has given Steve Jobs’s quixotic corporate quest new vigor, it’s doomed to fail,” Charles Haddad’s latest Byte of the Apple column for BuisnessWeek Online opines that Apple will continue to fail in the corporate market because Macs still command a premium in price over PCs.

IDG World Expo recently announced that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will present the keynote address at Macworld Conference and Expo Tokyo 2002, which runs from March 21-23 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center. MacCentral reports that Apple does not plan to introduce any new or revised hardware at the event.

Andy Pastuszak has set up a Quicken for Mac mailing list on Yahoo! Groups for fellow Quicken users to help each other and share tips, as Intuit provides no free support for Mac customers. The list is free to join and participate in.

MacPowerUser Software today released iDraw, a new Mac OS X application for illustration and animation. The software takes full advantage of Mac OS X’s Quartz rendering engine, creating smoothly rendered vector paths, and features different fill types, including translucent colors and gradients, object transformations, text glyph manipulation, and more. iDraw is US$39.95 shareware.

Wireless (802.11b) networks may be proliferating at coffeehouses and airports, but actually taking advantage of them is a trend that hasn’t yet caught on, according to a Salon article that takes a detailed look at the current state of the wireless Web. Furthermore, while numerous private access points can be found within range of public places, the vast majority prevent guests from accessing them, limiting the vision of a consumer-built wireless network.
