Worldwide spending on robotics and related services will more than double by 2020, growing from $91.5 billion in 2016 to more than $188 billion in 2020, according to the newly updated “Worldwide Commercial Robotics Spending Guide” from International Data Corporation (IDC).

In addition to spending data on robotic systems, system hardware, software, robotics-related services, and after-market robotics hardware, the robotics spending guide now includes data on commercial purchase of drones and after-market drone hardware.

New data from Juniper Research (www.junipereesearch.com) shows that revenues from smart home hardware and services will reach US$83 billion this year, rising to $195 billion by 2021. This will be generated through entertainment, automation, healthcare and connected devices, according to the research group.
 

Worldwide purchases of 3D printers, materials, software, and related services are expected to total $13.2 billion in 2016. According to a recent report by International Data Corporation (IDC), global spending on 3D printing will experience a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.3% with revenues reaching $28.9 billion in 2020.

 A new survey by Clutch (https://clutch.co), a B2B IT ratings and reviews firm, found that enterprises strongly prefer Microsoft Azure, while small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) gravitate toward Google Cloud Platform. The survey was conducted in order to gain more knowledge on the “Big Three” cloud providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure.

Internet of Things spending grew 17.9% in 2016
Worldwide spending on the Internet of Things (IoT) is forecast to have reached US$737 billion in 2016 as organizations invest in the hardware, software, services, and connectivity that enable the IoT. According to a new update by International Data Corporation (IDC), global IoT spending will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.6% over the 2015-2020 forecast period, reaching $1.29 trillion in 2020.
