LaCie (http://www.lacie.com) has announced the Rugged eSATA, a mobile external hard drive that features a Power eSATA interface. Bus-powered when connected to a USB-eSATA combo port, it purportedly offers transfer speeds of up to 90MB/second.

Apple has released Mac Pro Audio 1.0 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1004). This update is for Mac Pro (Early 2009) computers running Mac OS X 10.6.2.

NYU Stern Professor Vasant Dhar, an expert in the strategic implications of information technology, warns that the publishing industry will be the next “carcass” if it doesn’t embrace a new business model, and he proposes what this new model should look like.
