Jobs to assist in upcoming biography

Apple CEO Steve Jobs will assist in an upcoming biography, according to “The New York Times” (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/16/technology/companies/16apple.html). The biography will be written by Walter Issacson, a former managing editor of “TIME” magazine.

Isaacson is currently the CEO and president of the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit education and policy studies organization based in Washington. He’s penned two other biographies, “Einstein: His Life and Universe” and “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life.”

Appliya announces new iPhone app publication tool

Appliya (http://www.appliya-studio.com) has announced an upgraded version of their online iPhone app publication tool, the iPhoneAppBuilder.

Exacq Technologies (http://www.exacq.com) has released version 4 of its exacqVision video management system software and version 2.0 of the exacqVision Webserver video management(VSM).

ExacqVision 4.0 adds a new mapping feature and an Enterprise Server Option. Mapping is now available on all exacqVision systems. Users can add maps of geographic locations, entire facilities, rooms and more by uploading an image (e.g. JPEG, bitmap, gif) and then associating cameras with it by utilizing the icons.

Nuance acquires MacSpeech

Nuance Communications has acquired MacSpeech, a provider of speech recognition solutions for Macs. The agreement will allow Nuance to extend the Dragon NaturallySpeaking family of products to the growing community of Mac users as a native Mac application, according to Peter Mahoney, senior vice president and general manager for Dragon, Nuance Communications.
