Cloud computing — is it safe?

What’s in a name: iPhone 4G?

Watch for it … the discussion on what Apple is going to name it’s next generation of iPhone. Will it be the iPhone 4G? The 3.5? The some-other-name-that-doesn’t-include-G? It’s hard to say. G here could easily mean the generation of the iPhone, or it could mean the G for mobile technology (e.g., 4G comes after the 3G service that AT&T has).

Verizon confirms 4G plans

The LTE trials being run by Verizon Wireless are going well, and the company says it is still on schedule to make LTE available to 100 million Americans by the end 2010, reports “ZDNet” (http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=31508&tag=wrapper;col1).

The the real-world broadband speeds that engineers are seeing on the nascent 4G network are “way beyond what customers get on the current 3G networks (including Verizon’s),” the article adds.

Apple seeking feedback from iTunes Store users

Apple is emailing some iTunes Store account holders seeking feedback on how they use the Store, according to “iLounge” (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/apple-seeking-itunes-store-feedback-from-users/).

The email, which carries the subject “Tell us how you like iTunes,” links to a survey about use of the iTunes Store. “iLounge” notes that, more specifically, the survey asks about video and movie purchase and rental, including why users purchase movies from the iTunes Store and what types of devices they typically watch them on.
