iPhone builder plants plant expansion

A unit of electronics maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. has started production at a temporary workshop in China (http://www.totaltele.com/view.aspx?C=3&ID=457566) as it prepares to build a permanent plant nearby to make iPhones for Apple, the Xinhua News Agency reports.

More than 500 employees are working on a rented production line, with construction scheduled to start later this month on the permanent $100 million plant. It will be owned by Hon Hai unit Futaihua Precision Electronics (Zhengzhou) Co.

iSale for Mac OS X now works more reliably with eBay Motors

Equinux (http://www.equinux.com) has released iSale 5.6.3, the latest version of the eBay auction tool. The new version works more reliably with eBay Motors

iSale costs US$39.95, though version 5.6.3 is a free update for registered users of version 5.x. Upgrades from previous versions to 5.x are $19.95.

iSale is Universal Binary so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher.

‘MUG Event Calendar’: iPhoto, Boinx Software, more

August kicks into high gear on this week’s “The MUG Event Calendar.” Ben Kerosky of Apple will show off iPhoto to a group in Alaska, while Boinx Software will be showing off their latest at an Illinois group.

Speaking of iPhoto, a California group will be discussing how to use it with your vacation photos, a New Zealand group will focus on social networking, a Virginia group will focus on backups, and a Colorado group will be talking about online communication with iChat and Skype.
