‘MUG Event Calendar’: two anniversary celebrations held this week

A MacNotable, an Apple Store Rep and two anniversary celebrations highlight this week’s this week’s “The MUG Event Calendar.”

“Macworld” Senior Editor Christopher Breen (a “MacNotablle”) will be the guest of honor at MacNexus in California. Just down the road, Derek Vanderby of the Apple Store will demo the iPad at the North Coast Mac Users Group.
MacGroup-Detroit will celebrate their 24th anniversary this week. However, the North Coast Mac User Group (Ohio) has them beat by a year, with a 25th anniversary picnic.

MacFamilyTree grows to version 6.0.2

Synium Software has released version 6.0.2 of MacFamilyTree (http://www.synium.de/products/macfamilytree/index.html). The new version supports Apple Aperture and improves the iPhone import sheet.

MacFamilyTree 6.0.2 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. For new users the cost is US$49. Upgrades from previous versions prior to 6.x are $25. Version 6.0.2 is a free download for registered users of version 6.x. A demo is available for download. MobileFamilyTree, the companion app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad is available in the App Store for $4.99.

Deep Prose Software (http://www.deepprose.com) has released Booxter 2.5.2 for Mac OS X. With Booxter users can create multiple libraries and smart lists to organize books, music, movies and comic books. The latest version is a maintenance update.
