Apple has updated their QuickTime Streaming Server software for Mac OS X to version 3.0.1. This release offers Skip Protection, Web-based Administration, Strong Authentication and Enhanced broadcasting support. Version 10.0 or later of Mac OS X Server is required to use this software.

Word Translator 4.2, an interactive foreign language dictionary, was released today. This update adds an Interactive Translation mode to the text translation functionality along with several minor changes and bug fixes. A demo version is also available.

The Mac OS X version of AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), an online chat and messaging client, is now available. AOL Instant Messenger 4.5.144 is optimized for Mac OS X and offers a new “Aqua” interface, but several features of the previous version(s), including IM images, Buddy Icons, File Transfer, and Smileys are missing. These will be add to AIM for Mac OS X soon, says AOL.
