Apple announced a few days ago that they would be moving their line of monitors entirely to LCD. A report in The Register says prices for large-size LCDs will stop falling this year and then rise next year, which could have an affect on monitor prices. Apple introduced a 17 inch LCD during their Worldwide Developer Conference.

A contractor for Apple in Taiwan says a new iBook is coming this July, reports News.com. The iBook will have a wider screen and come in a variety of colors instead of the white version introduced May 1, said Alpha Top spokesman Wang Hsin-wu.

HP has released printers drivers for their Photosmart line of printers. This printer driver will enable printing to Photosmart 1000, Photosmart p1000, Photosmart p1100 and the new Photosmart 1200 series printers connected to your Mac via USB. More information is available from HP’s Web site.

Vicomsoft has released version 7 of Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler. Internet Gateway is a security and connection management tool targeted towards a business network. It uses your Internet connection to connect all networked computers to the Internet. SurfDoubler is aimed at the home network, allowing the safe connection of up to 3 computers to the Internet using just one account.

In his latest column, Walter Mossberg discusses the noise — or in this case, lack thereof — of PCs. “Apple’s iMac and G4 Cube were specifically designed without a fan and are much quieter than any Windows machine I’ve used,” says Mossberg in the article. “…I’d strongly suggest you buy one of these Macs, even though you might have to replace some of your peripheral hardware.”
