Microsoft posted a security update for Word 98 and Word 2001. The update addresses a vulnerability that could allow malicious code to run in a Rich Text Format (RTF) document without warning.

Email Alert! 2.7.2 and IntelliMerge are both maintenance updates to IntelliInnovations’ shareware applications. eMail Alert! is a mail notification title so that users do not need to leave their email client open, while IntelliMerge is an application for improving mail merge. Carbon versions of both are available.

Apple, Microsoft, and Intel are the chief sponsors of the fifth annual 1394 Developer’s Conference, scheduled this year for July 31-August 2. Expert sessions will be offered for FireWire developers, as well as other conference events.

MacGIMP has made improvements to running the free, open-source Gimp image editor under OS X, including running the application rootless under XFree86. For those of you who can’t make sense of the previous statement, MacGIMP also plans to release a simple installer in the near future that will install GIMP on Mac OS X systems without any input from the user. 🙂
