Nuance Communications has acquired MacSpeech, a provider of speech recognition solutions for Macs. The agreement will allow Nuance to extend the Dragon NaturallySpeaking family of products to the growing community of Mac users as a native Mac application, according to Peter Mahoney, senior vice president and general manager for Dragon, Nuance Communications.

Platform-independent video solution adds DRM support for the iPhone, iPod touch

FluxDVD, a platform-independent video solution, now supports secure video downloads and playback on iPhone and iPod touch devices. The optionally DRM-protected files can be downloaded directly on the iPhone or may be transferred from a computer without requiring iTunes.

Once the content and license is stored on the iPhone, the content can be used as defined in the DRM and does not require any Internet connection. Support for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has been added through the custom “My Movies” app, which is available free of charge in the Apple App Store.

M-Edge to launch suite of accessories for Apple’s iPad

Steve Jobs named Mobile Personality of the Year

Apple CEO Steve Jobs was named the Mobile Personality of the Year award at this year’s Global Mobile Awards hosted at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) show in Barcelona, Spain.


The awards honor “excellence and innovation in mobile communications.” Steve Jobs wasn’t on hand so actor Stephen Fry, the host of the Global Mobile Awards, accepted the reward on this behalf.
