Strata online professional courses announced

Strata (http://www.strata.com) has announced the Strata Power User live online training course series. These initial courses will be taught by designers Chris Tyler and Jean Probert.

The four-hour online courses include course material to allow attendees to follow along, time to ask questions and get in-depth answers important to students. On Feb. 25 and March 2, Strata user, professional illustrator and designer Tyler will show participants how to get up and running with Design 3D CX and how to maximize your creativity.

eBook prices on the iPad may be lower than expected

Since Apple announced the iPad, and the accompanying iBookstore, it’s been expected that eBooks would see a price hike above the US$9.99 typically found at Amazon. However, that may not be the case, reports “The New York Times” (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/18/technology/18apple.html?emc=tnt&tntemail0=y).

As more details come to light of the actual negotiations between Apple and publishers, it appears that Apple left room to sell some of the most popular books at a discount, the article adds.

Apple support doc addresses issue with Aperture 3

Apple has released a new support document for its Aperture photo editing and management software for photographers. Version 3 was introduced earlier this month.

After you upgrade Aperture from an earlier version to Aperture 3, Aperture may quit unexpectedly when opening or when you enter the Aperture 3 upgrade serial number, Apple says. The support document (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3231) offers advice on resolving the issue.

Disney sees lots of potential in the iPad

Disney, which recently acquired Marvel Comics, sees “more potential in the iPad than any medium it’s looked at in a long time,” according to the “Pocket Gamer” web site (http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk).

Speaking during the company’s quarterly earnings call, CEO Bob Iger talked bout Disney’s intentions to bring gaming, TV, applications, web content, and comic books together on the iPad, and expand on the experience for each.
