Juniper Research (www.juniperresearch.com) has released a report into the business attitudes towards and experiences of cyber security and cyber attacks in SMEs and enterprises. The research revealed that three quarters of companies feel they are currently secure, even though half of those businesses also reported having previously experienced a cyber attack.

Camera Guard Pro available for Mac OS X

Miami-based security solutions company, ProtectStar, has launched Camera Guard Professional for Mac 2016 (http://tinyurl.com/h9mpgrn), a security solution designed to protect any Mac’s webcam and microphone from being accessed by hackers, spyware or malware.

It runs in the background, constantly monitoring for applications or processes that attempt to access the Mac’s camera or microphone. The app blocks any attempted access, and immediately informs the user of the access attempt, according to ProtectStar CEO Chris Bohn.

Simpleum Media (https://simpleum.com) has announced SimpleumSafe 1.1.1, an update to their Mac OS X encryption app for password-based encryption of personal and professional data. It uses AES-256 encryption technology.

With SimpleumSafe, you can create and use different safes at various locations such as hard disk, USB flash drive or cloud storage. The size and number of files to be encrypted is only limited by the capacity of the selected storage medium. Version 1.1.1 fixes a bug where SimpleumSafe could crash in some circumstances when editing a file with an external App.
