Apple’s marketshare in France during the third quarter came in at 3.8 percent, according to MacGeneration, down from 4.4 percent during the previous year but up from 2.8 percent during the second quarter. Overall, PC sales declined 18 percent during the third quarter in France; Apple was the number eight computer maker, based on volume, in France.

Napster has further delayed the launch of its new service due to difficulties in getting major record label content. Napster is now targeting an early 2002 launch date for its service, which will include a subscribtion based service for users interested in swapping copyrighted material.

Shares of Apple fell $1.04 today, or 5.57 percent, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 275 points and the Nasdaq shed nearly 70.
