CE Software releases OS X-compatible QuickMail 3.0 beta

CE Software today announced the release of QuickMail 3.0 beta, a new version of its e-mail client and server for OS 8/9 and Mac OS X. The new version adds client and server interfaces that take advantage of Mac OS X’s Aqua interface, a new address book distribution, and numerous other improvements. The public beta version of the QuickMail Pro client is available now, while a beta version of the server will be available in the coming weeks.

Bungie reassures fans of Halo for Mac/PC

As the X-Box launch nears, Bungie Studios’ Matt Soell has assured fans of its long-awaited 3D action game, Halo, that the company still plans to bring the game to both Mac and PC. However, the company has yet to make specific plans for their development or release. “We still plan to do a Mac and PC version of Halo, but there are a lot of questions that must be answered before we can make the Mac/PC versions happen.”

Freeverse releases WingNuts demo

Freeverse Software has released a demo of WingNuts, its upcoming OpenGL-based top-down 2D action game. In WingNuts, available for OS 8/9 and Mac OS X, players take off from an aircraft carrier and hunt Baron von Schtopwatch’s robot planes in 30 levels of arcade action. The game features 360 degrees of movement with side-to-side strafing, OpenGL graphics effects, spectacular particle explosions, and a patriotic soundtrack.
