Twelve South has released a new model of its BookArc — which allows you to run your setup from the power of your Mac laptop while in closed clamshell mode — that supports the 2016 MacBook Pros.

To use you slide your MacBook Pro into the silicone slot, connect it to an external display, add a full-size keyboard and mouse to enjoy the comfort of a desktop setup. Unplug the MacBook, and BookArc’s newly designed cable-catch feature keeps your cables from falling to the floor. The BookArc for 2016 MacBook Pros costs $49.99.

Feral Interactive has announced that the Mac App Store (http://tinyurl.com/hhas3qz) version of epic strategy game Empire: Total War has been updated to support multiplayer mode.

Players can now enjoy the online features of Empire: Total War by signing up for an account with Calico, Feral’s own multiplayer matching service. Using Calico, players can invite friends to multiplayer battles and co-op campaigns, compare skill ratings, and track achievements.

Empire: Total War requires macOS 10.11.6 or higher. It costs $34.99.

MailRaider 3.0 is now available from 45RPM Software (http://www.45rpmsoftware.com). The app can open email files written by Microsoft Outlook, and extract any attached files. Version 3 adds support for the Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pros.

Apple has released AirPods firmware 3.5.1. AppleInsider.com says it’s probably already been downloaded to a synchronized device.

Installation is automatic when the AirPods are in their charging case, the case is plugged into a charger, and the linked iPhone is in close proximity and connected to Wi-Fi. You can check the installed firmware revision in the “General” settings menu, by selecting “About,” then “AirPods.” AppleInsider says the update contains “miscellaneous minor bug fixes.”
