Research: over over 80% of U.S. households have a home network

Parks Associates has released research that provides in-depth analysis, competitor profiles, business model strategies, trends, and forecasts for product and service ecosystems serving the connected consumer.

Currently 75% of U.S. homes have broadband, and over 80% of these households have a home network. Over 60% own connected CE, including over 80% of consumers 18-34, and the average household has nearly seven connected CE devices.

Global semiconductor revenue grew 5% in 2013

Total worldwide semiconductor revenue reached $315 billion in 2013, up 5 percent from 2012, according to Gartner, Inc. (www.gartner.com). The combined revenue of the top 25 semiconductor vendors increased by 6.9% during 2013.

This was a significantly better performance than the rest of the market, whose revenue growth was 0.9%, and was due, in part, to the concentration of memory vendors in the top ranking, according to the research group. The memory market increased 23.5% in 2013.

Getting a better deal from your cable provider
