About 42% new security system installations include a smart home device

New research from Parks Associates (www.parksassociates.com) reveals that 42% of new security installations include a smart home device such as a door lock, light, or thermostat.

The data also shows that interactive services, or the ability to remotely monitor and control the security panel and sensors, are now included in more than 70% of new security system installs. At the end of 2016, nearly 60% of U.S. broadband households with professional monitoring reported having interactive services.

The iPhone X arrives in November

Apple has announced the iPhone X, which is modestly describes as “the future of the smartphone.” It comes in an all-glass design with a 5.8-inch “Super Retina” display, A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging and an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization.

Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 3, adding built-in cellular. It allows users to stay connected, make calls, receive texts and more, even without an iPhone nearby.

The third-generation Apple Watch boasts intelligent coaching features, water resistance to 50 meters and a new barometric altimeter that measures relative elevation. Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with GPS and cellular, and one with GPS, both featuring a 70% faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip.

Apple debuts the Apple TV 4K with HDR

Apple has introduced the Apple TV 4K with support for both 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR. With Apple TV 4K, viewers can enjoy a growing selection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes.

In fact, iTunes users will get automatic upgrades of HD titles in their existing iTunes library to 4K HDR versions when they become available. Apple TV 4K will also offer 4K HDR content from popular video services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, coming soon, says Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
