59% of higher ed CIOs expect big changes due to digital transformation

Higher education CIOs recognize that key organizational priorities are enrollment and student success, but fail to show innovation with regard to the top technologies required to differentiate themselves and win, according to a survey from Gartner, Inc. (www.gartner.com). Yet, a majority of respondents (59%) think there will be significant business model change due to digital transformation, adds the research group.

Gartner’s 2018 CIO Agenda Survey gathered data from 3,160 CIO respondents in 98 countries and across major industries, including 247 higher education CIOs.

Apple services revenue reaches an all time high

Apple has announced the financial results for its fiscal 2017 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 30. The tech giant posted quarterly revenue of $52.6 billion, an increase of 12% from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.07, up 24%. International sales accounted for 62% of the quarter’s revenue.

GarageBand for iOS brings new Sound Library and classic Beat Sequencer

Apple has announced an update to GarageBand for iOS that provides even more creative options for making music on iPhone and iPad. For instance, it introduces a new GarageBand Sound Library, where users can select and download a variety of free sound packs featuring new instruments and loops.

Beat makers can tap into a new Beat Sequencer instrument inspired by classic drum machines. The app also features new Asian Touch Instruments and updates to Drummer, including six additional players.
