The one thing Vision Pro is great at is basically guaranteed to fail Macworld
When Apple launched Vision Pro, reviewers were conflicted. Most acknowledged the very high standard of the headset’s technology, while wondering if there was a convincing use case. What are we supposed to do with this thing that justifies the enormous price tag? What’s the killer app?
Even after the launch of the second-gen model, those questions remain. But one possible solution lies in the world of sports. With traditional broadcast technology, watching sports on TV is a pale 2D imitation of attending the event in person; even 3D TVs struggle to properly immerse you in the crowd and the atmosphere. The kind of immersion enabled by Vision Pro would, quite literally, be a game changer.
Sadly, there remain many barriers in the way of this becoming a mainstream reality, as one startup appears to have discovered.
In a detailed article, AppleInsider this week recounts the strange tale of OneEightyDegrees, a small firm seeking investment and media coverage of its Be There platform. This was designed to capture immersive video at sports events using specialist cameras located in or near the stands, and broadcast this live to VR users–initially Vision Pro, with other platforms to be added later.
That sounds like a good plan, but it doesn’t seem to have worked out. OneEightyDegrees stopped responding to AppleInsider’s emails, and the site is now unsure whether it was a legitimate startup which simply didn’t manage to secure the funding it needed, or if the whole thing was just a fishing expedition “in an attempt to secure a one-in-a-million chance at funding and to become a real service.” Either way, I wouldn’t expect to hear much more about OneEightyDegrees or Be There.
The sports conundrum
There’s a wider point here, because this odd case study demonstrates the near-impossibility of any small company breaking into the live broadcast of VR sports video. As AppleInsider explains, OneEightyDegrees never stood a chance. The startup would have had to pay licensing fees to leagues and franchises, likely running into the tens or even hundreds of millions, obtain broadcast-grade cameras and other equipment and gear, then manage bandwidth-hungry data streams to viewers.
And after all that expense, OneEightyDegrees would have run into the worst problem of all: the audience isn’t guaranteed, and will be very small at first, partly because hardly anyone can afford a Vision Pro and partly because the idea of watching a multi-hour sports event using a weighty headset is unappealing. The money you’d have to pump into the project simply wouldn’t be justified by the money you could draw out at the other end, which essentially rules the idea out as feasible for a startup. Or for any company that wants to actually make a profit.
Sports could be Vision Pro’s killer feature, but it’s extremely expensive.Dall-E/Petter Ahrnstedt
The only way this could work, in other words, is for a company to take it on as an initially loss-making enterprise that pays out in the long run. Create it in the knowledge that it won’t turn a profit, and hope that the existence of high-quality live sports broadcasts on Vision Pro will convince more people to buy one, thereby making the service commercially viable. Although we’d still need Apple to make a lighter version of the headset, and the bad news is that this project is believed to have been scrapped.
Apple itself has dipped its toes into sports broadcasting on Vision Pro, but to a very limited extent: a few basketball games and a slam dunk contest, none of them live. Where it has much wider experience is traditional sports broadcasting, from soccer and F1 to Friday Night Baseball, so the company clearly has the coffers to stomach those franchise fees; the question is whether it would be willing to commit to the much greater costs and difficulties of broadcasting in VR on a wider basis.
Perhaps it will do so for the sake of Vision Pro’s success. But I’m not convinced. Apple has plenty of money, but that doesn’t mean it’s willing to throw a chunk of it at a losing venture. And as the case of OneEightyDegrees demonstrates, there’s little profit to be had right now from broadcasting sports to Vision Pro users.

Google Announces Its Own Version of Apple's Private Cloud Compute Google this week announced Private AI Compute, a new cloud-based system designed to deliver AI capabilities using its Gemini models while maintaining strict data privacy controls, a framework that closely parallels Apple's own Private Cloud Compute technology.
According to Google, the service enables AI tasks that exceed the processing capacity of local hardware to be handled securely in the cloud without exposing personal data to the company or third parties.
For decades, Google has developed privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) to improve a wide range of AI-related use cases. Today, we're taking the next step in building helpful experiences that keep users safe with Private AI Compute in the cloud, a new AI processing platform that combines our most capable Gemini models from the cloud with the same security and privacy assurances you expect from on-device processing. It's part of our ongoing commitment to deliver AI with safety and responsibility at the core.
Private AI Compute is built using custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) with integrated Titanium Intelligence Enclaves (TIE). These hardware-secured enclaves form an isolated, "fortified space" where AI workloads can be processed without direct access to raw user data. Devices connect to the environment using remote attestation and encrypted channels, ensuring that all data transferred remains inaccessible to Google's engineers or infrastructure administrators.
The system will first power new AI experiences on Pixel 10 devices, such as enhancements to Magic Cue, an AI assistant that provides contextually aware suggestions, and an upgraded Recorder app capable of summarizing transcriptions in additional languages. Both rely on Gemini's larger models in the cloud, which require significantly greater computing resources than on-device NPUs can provide.
Private AI Compute is extremely similar to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which it launched last year. Apple's system supports Apple Intelligence features and uses custom servers containing Apple silicon chips that operate as verifiable, sealed environments for processing AI tasks. Hands-on: Smart glasses that finally look & feel normal – Even Realities G2 During the chaos of CES 2025, I came across one product that gave me the “I need to have that” feeling. It was at a small booth in the smart wearables area. They were the Even Realities G1 glasses. They were the first smart glasses I came across that I actually wanted to wear purely based on the look. When I finally got my hands on them, they mostly lived up to my internal hype. These G1 glasses were amazingly well made, had some great functionality that I used a lot, like the teleprompter feature, and seemed to be heading in the direction that I thought most smart glasses should take. However, it was still a first-generation product, so some kinks needed to be ironed out. Fast forward to today, and Even Realities introduced their new G2 glasses and the R1 bright ring, and now it feels like a whole different beast. Here is what you should know.

When is the best time to buy an iPad? We investigate Macworld
We’ve all been there. You decide to pick up a shiny new device, so you head to the shops and return home with your expensive purchase; all is well with the world. Then a week later a newer, better version is released, and you’re left wondering whether you’ve wasted your money.
In this article we show how to avoid this trauma by explaining when it’s the best time to buy an iPad.
If you’re struggling to decide which one is the right device for you, incidentally, you should also take a look at our iPad buying guide.
When is the best time to buy an iPad?
It’s easier to say when the worst time to buy a new iPad is: just before a new version is launched. That’s when you find out you could have got more for your money and the retailer you brought from drops the price of the model you now own because they want to clear out the old stock.
To avoid this you might want to check to see if Apple is about to update the range of iPads you are interested in. Unfortunately there is no clear schedule to when Apple will update any of the iPad models because Apple doesn’t tend to update iPads as regularly as it does iPhones. But you can be reasonably confident that if the iPad you want to buy is less than a year and a half old it probably isn’t about to be updated.
However, buying an iPad just after it launches isn’t necessarily the best time to buy one either. This is the time when you will be paying the most for a new iPad, not because Apple might drop prices but because other resellers probably will. We see iPad deals from retailers throughout the year, but the best deals tend to happen during Amazon Prime Day (July and October) or Black Friday (November). For this reason we would recommend that those are good times to buy a new iPad.
Apple doesn’t discount its products in its own stores, but it does offer vouchers with new purchases from time to time–and Black Friday is one of those times as is the Back to School deal that it runs throughout the summer months. So if you want to get vouchers from Apple those are good times to shop at the company’s stores.
When was the iPad updated?
Life would be a bit easier for the iPad fanbase if you could always rely on the latest update to your preferred model appearing in September, as is the case with the iPhone. Instead, Apple updates its iPads on a less predictable schedule, with new models tending to appear around September/October or April, and often with a gap of two or more years between updates.
Here’s a list of the iPads on sale today and when they were last updated:
iPad mini (A17 Pro): October 2024
iPad (A16): March 2025
iPad Air (M3): March 2025
iPad Pro (M5): October 2025
When will Apple launch new iPads?
The next update is likely to be to the iPad mini (A17 Pro), we also hope that Apple will soon update the iPad A16 as that is incompatible with the Apple Intelligence features. As for when to expect these updates, spring 2026 is possible but we think we could be waiting until fall 2026.
Is now a good time to buy an iPad?
Here’s our breakdown of the four types of iPad that Apple currently sells, and in each case whether you should buy now or wait.

Is now a good time to buy? Yes. But keep in mind that there are Apple Intelligence features you won’t be getting now, or in the future, so a different iPad might be a better choice.
The current 10-inch iPad arrived in March 2025.
This is the cheapest iPad, with a starting price of $349/£329, and as such it is an easy model to recommend for those who don’t care about the latest flashy innovations and instead want a reliable, mid-size tablet in fun colors, for general use.
However, if size isn’t important, you may be better off with the smaller iPad mini, which starts at $499/£499. Another reason to choose the iPad mini or iPad Air is that the standard iPad doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, which could mean missing out on features coming to the iPad in the future.

Is now a good time to buy? Yes. We don’t expect an update until 2026 or later.
The 2024 iPad mini offers 128GB storage at the entry level, rather than a measly 64GB. This is a definite point in its favor. In addition, the 2024 model features a chip compatible with Apple Intelligence features, so it will be nicely future-proofed for a while (and it’s likely to be a few years until Apple updates it).
There is a choice of color options, as there are on the iPad and iPad Air. The iPad mini has pale blue, purple and starlight in contrast to the bolder color choices on the Air and standard iPad.

The iPad Air with M3 chip is a stunning machine at a comparatively affordable price. It has some competition from the iPad Pro (which has a much more meaty M5 chip), and it’s no longer the thin, light offering it once was now that the iPad Pro is just as slim.
Like the iPad Pro the iPad Air now comes in two sizes, so you can choose either a 11-inch or 13-inch display. It’s the iPad Air that has the fun color palette though, available in blue, pink, yellow or silver, while the Pro has a more professional color scheme.

Is now a good time to buy? Yes. The iPad Pro now has a M5 chip and we don’t think that it will be updated again for at least 12 months.
As the flagships of Apple’s tablet range, the iPad Pro 11-inch and 13-inch are highly desirable devices that boast incredible levels of performance. These features don’t come cheap, though.
The M5 iPad Pro which arrived in 2025 is already more powerful than it has any right to be, so we don’t think you need to wait for the M6 iPad Pro to launch.

iPhone 18 Pro Max's Thicker Design Could Make It Heaviest iPhone Ever Hardware changes Apple has planned for the iPhone 18 Pro Max will make it the heaviest iPhone yet, claims a Chinese leaker.
Apple isn't expected to change the size of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and it will feature the same 6.9-inch display size as the current model. However, according to Weibo-based account Instant Digital, the body of the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, tipping its weight over 240 grams.
In a follow-up post on Weibo, Instant Digital says the difference between the two generations will be about 10 grams, so it sounds like we're looking at around 243 grams. That would make next year's iPhone 18 Pro Max approximately 3 grams more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is currently the heaviest model Apple has produced.
Apple's use of titanium instead of stainless steel made the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models lighter. Apple then switched away from titanium to less-dense aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro models, but internal changes and slightly thicker designs bumped up their weight again. The iPhone 17 Pro Max weighs 233 grams, up from 227 grams.
Pro Max model weights:iPhone XS Max: 208 grams
iPhone 11 Pro Max: 226 grams
iPhone 12 Pro Max: 228 grams
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 238 grams
iPhone 14 Pro Max: 240 grams
iPhone 15 Pro Max: 221 grams
iPhone 16 Pro Max: 227 grams
iPhone 17 Pro Max: 233 grams
iPhone 18 Pro Max: ~243 grams?
In a swipe at the iPhone Air's reported poor sales, the leaker claims Apple has "figured out" that making iPhones thinner and lighter doesn't necessarily make them more attractive to consumers if that means compromising on features and battery life.
The leaker doesn't give a specific reason for the alleged thicker design of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but a larger battery is the most likely cause. Apple is also said to be adopting a new type of vapor chamber that uses stainless steel.
In addition, there are camera upgrades rumored – a Main camera with a variable aperture and a new three-layer stacked image sensor developed by Samsung – and potentially changes coming to the Dynamic Island and Face ID. Whether the weight increase is due to the cumulative effect of multiple changes or a single hardware upgrade remains unclear.
Instant Digital has a mixed but occasionally reliable track record. The account previously revealed accurate details such as the Yellow iPhone 14 and 14 Plus finishes and the Titanium Milanese Loop for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, though not all of its past claims have proven correct.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in the fall of 2026.Related Roundup: iPhone 18Tag: Instant DigitalRelated Forum: iPhoneThis article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

How to get the best Apple Watch deals for Black Friday 2025: Our advice
Like always, Apple sells three watches, but for the first time in years, all three models were updated this year.
Apple Watch Series 11: The standard Apple Watch Series 11 starts at the same price as previous watches ($399/£369) and is largely the same as the Series 10. The main upgrade is better battery life (24 hours vs 18 hours), 5G connectivity, and better scratch resistance. We’re spotlighting a deal on the Series 10 for $120 off and recommend grabbing it instead of paying more for the Series 11.
Apple Watch Ultra 3: The Apple Watch Ultra 3 ($799/£749) has a slightly larger screen, 5G connectivity, Emergency SOS via satellite, and significantly longer battery life (42 hours vs 36 hours). With prices already dropping by $100, we recommend picking up the newer model if you’re looking for a large, rugged watch.
Apple Watch SE 3: Apple updated the Apple Watch SE for the first time in years and gave it several overdue features, including an always-on display, skin temperature sensor, gestures, 5G, a faster chip, and fast charging. With the same $249/£219 starting price, an older SE 2 would need to be around $100 to be worth it. Early Black Friday sales are already pushing the price of the SE 3 under $200 and we think it’s a fantastic option for just about anyone.

What to avoid
It’s important to be aware that Black Friday brings bad deals as well as good ones. Retailers don’t want to give you a great deal; they want you to buy their unwanted stock at a high price and will use all sorts of tricks to persuade you to do so. Don’t let them get away with it.
Always check the current MSRP/RRP for the watch you’re planning to buy (we include these with all of our recommended deals). In the U.K. Apple dropped prices on the new set of Watches when they were introduced, but retailers will conveniently forget to mention this and quote the old price instead. That makes their discount look bigger and the deal more appealing. Some retailers also raise their own prices ahead of Black Friday, then drop them back down and claim a large saving. Price tracker sites like CamelCamelCamel can help you to work out if this has happened. We will also flag it if we see it.
It’s worth checking reviews and buying guides (such as ours, linked above) to assess the age and worth of the device. Make sure you’re not being fobbed off with antiquated stock. Also, watch out for deals on the cellular models; these can look like big savings, but in our experience, there is little point in owning a cellular Apple Watch. You might as well pay less and get the standard model.
Finally, what actually constitutes a good deal? U.S. buyers should be looking at a benchmark of roughly $60 to $70 off the current models and $100 or more off discontinued ones, which is what we saw in 2024. But deals tend to be weaker in the U.K., where we struggled to find £30 off anything in 2024.
Does Apple discount Apple Watches for Black Friday?
Apple doesn’t drop prices for Black Friday. Rather, it gives away gift cards when you buy certain items. For Apple’s Black Friday deal in 2024, it gave away $50/£40 gift cards with Apple Watch SE purchases made on Apple’s U.S. site or Apple’s U.K. site.
In 2023, Apple also offered gift cards with the Apple Watch Series 9, but the Series 10 wasn’t included in 2024’s sale. Now that Apple has updated all three watch models, we don’t know if any of them will be included in this year’s sale.

Leaker backtracks: iPhone Air not canceled, is getting two cameras instead A questionable report claiming that Apple had dropped plans for a 2026 iPhone Air update have been partially walked back, just as we predicted.iPhone AirMaybe there is a little bit of we-told-you-so, but really this yet another lesson in taking one piece of information and making the wrong molehill out of it. On November 10, 2025, The Information reported that multiple sources said Apple had removed the iPhone Air from the 2026 schedule. Now the publication has found other multiple sources, who are apparently saying the delay is nothing to do with sales. Instead, it is to give time for redesign that would see the next iPhone Air add a second rear camera — which has previously been rumored. Apple’s website says Apple Intelligence requires an M2 Mac or later, but don’t panic Apple has updated its website to say that Apple Intelligence on a Mac requires a model with an M2 chip or later. That’s a change to the original compatibility requirement of an M1 chip or later.
However, while the change may be worrying for anyone with an M1 Mac, it seems near-certain that this is an error rather than a change of requirements …

A few years ago, if you had told me that in 2025 we’d be chatting with our documents, I would’ve giggled and questioned your sanity. Now it’s the new norm, with companies like OpenAI and Google letting you upload files to their AI platforms and have their chatbots analyze their contents on your behalf. To maintain its dominance in the productivity space, Adobe has launched a similar AI-centric service called Acrobat Studio.
Like OpenAI’s ChatGPT Projects and Google’s NotebookLM, Acrobat Studio lets you upload multiple documents to a dedicated digital space. You can then ask the AI chatbot questions about the uploaded information, sparing you from manually reading long walls of text. The subscription also bundles other Adobe services, like Express Premium, the full PDF editing toolbox, 250 generative credits for AI-made media, 100GB of cloud storage, and more.
A wide range of documents can be uploaded to Acrobat Studio, including Word and Excel files.Foundry
PDF Spaces is Acrobat Studio’s main exclusive perk. While it’s called PDF Spaces, you can actually upload a wide range of file formats to it, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You also get to type or paste notes and import documents via web links or supported cloud storage services. Each space can accommodate up to 100 files at a time, which should be sufficient for most users’ needs.
Once you’re done setting up a space, it becomes an independent knowledge base that takes all of the uploaded files’ contents into account. It will then automatically generate insight cards that include handy pieces of information, like summaries, prominent themes, tables breaking down complex details, etc. Each space also has an integrated AI chatbot to which you can direct your questions.
The chatbot can be customized to analyze your documents from a certain viewpoint.Foundry
One thing I appreciate about the AI integration in PDF Spaces is the ability to customize the chatbot. If your uploaded files revolve around legal matters, for example, you can instruct the assistant to view the document through a lawyer’s lens. The insight cards will also refresh and adapt accordingly.
Like similar services, however, the AI chatbot may hallucinate, and the app explicitly warns that you should double-check its results. Fortunately, the chatbot lists citations when answering queries about your documents. If you’re unsure about a certain tidbit, you can quickly jump to the source to verify its accuracy. Adobe also pledges not to train its AI models using the data you upload to its service, making Acrobat Studio more reliable for sensitive matters.
Other neat features include online collaboration and support for taking and editing notes relevant to a certain space.
The Studio tier is sold under Adobe’s Acrobat brand and bundles the PDF editing suite included with the cheaper Pro version. Despite that, the PDF editing tools are seemingly absent from PDF Spaces. If you want to make changes to an uploaded file (PDF or otherwise), you’ll need to download it from the space, load it in Adobe’s separate PDF editor to amend it, save it, re-upload it to the space, and delete the duplicate file. A useful ecosystem integration would’ve been support for direct PDF file edits inside these digital hubs.
Insight cards provide the user with an analysis of the documentation.Foundry
Price and availability
Adobe Acrobat Studio is available as a recurring subscription service, costing $35 per month or $300 as an annual plan. At the time of writing, the pricing webpage specifies that this is a limited-time, early-access offer. As such, the service could cost even more in the coming weeks.
Like other popular Adobe products, you can access Acrobat Studio from desktop, mobile, and the web. If you’re using macOS, I advise you to opt for the website, as the native Acrobat app installs a ton of unnecessary bloatware that will fill up your Mac’s App Library.
For more information on Adobe’s pricing read: Adobe Creative Cloud pricing: How to get the best deal.
Should you invest in Adobe Studio?
Acrobat Studio’s pricing and bundled services don’t make a lot of sense. A welcome move would be offering PDF Spaces as a standalone tool for a cheaper price. It would better compete against ChatGPT Projects and Google NotebookLM, which cost significantly less and serve a comparable purpose. Users who also need Acrobat Pro’s PDF editor, Express Premium’s templates, and the generative credits would get the option to pay extra for the voluntary add-ons.
That’s not to say Adobe Acrobat Studio is an invalid product, however. Those who already pay for Acrobat Pro and Express Premium will appreciate the comprehensive bundle and its exclusive PDF Spaces. The AI-powered feature is highly reliable for extracting data from complex documents, summarizing them, and making them more presentable. It could assist with work assignments, major purchases or investments, university research papers, and much more.

Apple Intelligence Apparently Too Smart for M1 Macs After Listing Error Apple's website is causing some confusion among Mac owners, and for good reason – its device compatibility listing for Apple Intelligence appears to have dropped support for M1 Macs.
The U.S. version of its Apple Intelligence webpage has been updated at the bottom to list "M2 or later" Mac models as eligible for the AI features, replacing the long-standing "M1 and later" requirement.
However, regional versions – including the UK and Canada sites – continue to reference M1 Macs as compatible with Apple Intelligence. Meanwhile, Apple's support page, titled "How to get Apple Intelligence" and dated November 10, still lists "Mac with M1 or later" under the device requirements.
Looking at the difference between the live webpage and the last archived snapshot from November 6, Apple appears to have intentionally changed Apple Vision Pro from "M2" to "M2 or later" to reflect the recent launch of the Vision Pro with M5 chip. But whoever did the edit also appears to have erroneously changed the Macs in the list to "M2 or later" as well.
On the Canada and UK pages, Apple has not yet updated the Vision Pro to "M2 or later", which is another sign that this is exactly what has happened. We expect Apple will correct the U.S. webpage later today once it learns of the mistake.
Apple Intelligence began rolling out in October 2024, bringing generative and contextual AI tools across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It includes a range of capabilities, including composing text and emails, generating images, summarizing documents and texts, and more.
We are still waiting for Apple to release a more advanced version of Siri with contextual awareness that has been promised since last year. Apple is expected to roll out the new version of Siri around March or April 2026.

Five years later, the M5 chip just made Apple silicon exciting again Macworld
There’s no doubt that in the five years since the M1 chip, Apple silicon has changed the MacBook in radical ways. We’ve seen a massive performance uptick compared to the prior Intel chips, phenomenal battery life, and cool and quiet performance. The difference is day and night.
But after a few years, we’ve gotten used to the improvements. Each Apple silicon chip feels impressive, but nowhere near as exciting as it used to be. In some ways, we’ve come to take it all for granted.
We can see that reflected in the M5 MacBook Pro. Both before and after it launched, this device was framed as an iterative update with very little to differentiate it from the M4 version. We were told to just expect a chip refresh and very little else, with many experts and analysts warning that the true update would be coming next year with the M6 MacBook Pro.
Part of this is undoubtedly true: the M5 MacBook Pro lacks the wide-ranging overhaul that the M6 edition is expected to get, with its predicted OLED touchscreen display and redesigned chassis. Compared to the M4 MacBook Pro, the M5 version has the same chassis, the same display, the same keyboard. It’s not exactly a thrilling update if your benchmark is getting something completely different from what has gone before.
On the outside, the M5 MacBook Pro isn’t an exciting upgrade over the M4 model. But under the hood are significant updates.Foundry
Yet if you know where to look, the M5 chip update is actually a lot more impactful than you might imagine. Far from being one to avoid, it could be a great pick for a certain category of MacBook user. And beyond that, it hints at exciting things for the future.
The best is yet to come
While the M5 MacBook Pro might be hard to differentiate from its predecessor on looks alone, there’s a lot more to it under the hood. Don’t mistake it for some boring ho-hum refresh just because it looks similar to its M4 sibling.
As we found in our review of the M5 MacBook Pro, performance has increased across the board in meaningful ways. Apple has not only increased SSD speeds but doubled them compared to the previous edition, which in any other year would be heralded as a massive step forward. Graphics performance has charged way ahead of the M4 model, and this is increasingly important now that Macs’ gaming performance has never been better. And CPU output is also up across a range of tests, improving the everyday workflows you’ll likely buy the device for.
Other test results have even suggested that the M5 chip outperforms the M1 Ultra. Sure, that’s no longer the newest or shiniest Apple chip, but it was an incredibly high-end offering when it debuted. Now that power is available in the entry-level MacBook Pro.

This tiny 256GB SSD has an interesting way of protecting your files Macworld
TL;DR: The iKlips S USB-C Nano Fingerprint SSD is a tiny, secure 256GB SSD on sale now for $70.
Sometimes, you can’t afford to wait for cloud storage. The iKlips S USB-C Nano Touch Portable SSD gives you a tiny, secure, high-speed way to move data wherever you go, and, unlike cloud storage, you don’t need a subscription to use it. It’s also on sale for $69.99 (reg. $89).
This drive is small enough to clip to a keychain. It measures only 14.2 by 26 by 17.1 millimeters and weighs just 5 grams. Even with that size, it packs 256GB of storage and reaches speeds up to 450 MB per second for reading and up to 400 MB per second for writing. Large video files, including 4K and ProRes footage, transfer quickly without lag. The drive uses exFAT formatting, so files larger than 4GB save without splitting or compression.
The iKlips S has a novel way of handling security: it has its own fingerprint reader that supports up to 20 fingerprints, allowing instant access without entering passwords. Encryption happens on the SSD itself, so the data stays protected even if the drive is plugged into another device.
You can use this compact drive on almost any modern device. Plug it into an iPhone with USB-C, an iPad, an Android phone, a Mac, a Windows PC, ChromeOS, or Linux. No extra apps. No setup. Just plug it in and start transferring.
The package includes a dust cover and lanyard for carrying, and the SSD comes with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind.

Apple Invites App for iPhone Updated — Here's What's New With the latest version of the Apple Invites app for the iPhone, released today, hosts can now allow guests to specify the number of adults and kids they are bringing to an event. This way, the guest will not be surprised if you bring a plus-one.
The update also contains bug fixes and performance improvements.
Released earlier this year, the Apple Invites app makes it easy to invite people to events, such as birthday parties and baby showers. First, you create an event invitation, which can include a description, a custom background, and even a shared photo album. Then, you can generate a link to the event that you can share with invited guests.
The ability to create an event in the app is limited to iCloud+ subscribers, but anyone who receives an event link can RSVP for free. In the U.S., the cheapest iCloud+ plan with 50GB of storage currently costs 99 cents per month.
Apple Invites is available on the iPhone, and on the web at iCloud.com/invites. Guests can RSVP in the iPhone app, or on the web from any device.Tag: Apple InvitesThis article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

iOS 26.2 Available Next Month With These 8 New Features Apple released the first iOS 26.2 beta last week. The upcoming update includes a handful of new features and changes on the iPhone, including a new Liquid Glass slider for the Lock Screen's clock, offline lyrics in Apple Music, and more.
In a recent press release, Apple confirmed that iOS 26.2 will be released to all users in December, but it did not provide a specific release date.
Below, we have highlighted eight new features coming with iOS 26.2.
Liquid Glass Slider on Lock Screen
A new slider in the Lock Screen customization menu lets you adjust the opacity of Liquid Glass for the clock, allowing you to decide how clear or frosted it appears.
This comes after iOS 26.1 added "Clear" and "Tinted" options for Liquid Glass overall.
Offline Lyrics in Apple Music
iOS 26.2 adds offline lyric support to Apple Music, allowing you to view a song's lyrics even when you are not connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Sleep Score Revisions
iOS 26.2 and watchOS 26.2 have revised Sleep Score ranges:
Very Low: 0-40 (previously 0-29)
Low: 41-60 (previously 30-49)
OK: 61-80 (previously 50-69)
High: 81-95 (previously 70-89)
Very High: 96-100 (previously 90-100)Apple says sleep scores are calculated based on how long you slept, the consistency of when you fell asleep, and the frequency and duration of waking up during the night. The feature is available in the Health app on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 26, and in the Sleep app on all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 26.
Alarms for Reminders
iOS 26.2 lets you set alarms for reminders in Apple's Reminders app.
When adding a reminder, selecting a time and then toggling on the "Urgent" option will cause an alarm to go off at the designated time.
Apple Podcasts Enhancements
Apple's Podcasts app has three new features on iOS 26.2, including automatic chapters for episodes, timed links on the screen, and the ability to view other podcasts that a podcast mentions right from the audio player and the transcript.
Apple News Revamp
In the Apple News app, there is now a dedicated "Following" tab, and buttons for quick access to topics like sports, puzzles, politics, business, and food.
iPhone Screen Flash for Notifications
Starting with iOS 26.2, your iPhone's screen can flash when you receive a notification. Previously, this setting was limited to the LED camera flash on the back of the iPhone.
In the Settings app, under Accessibility → Audio & Visual → Flash for Alerts, there are now options for LED Flash, Screen, and Both. Or, you can keep the setting turned off.
AirPods Live Translation in EU
iOS 26.2 makes Live Translation on AirPods available in the EU.
Live Translation allows you to understand someone who is speaking a different language than you. For example, if you speak English, and someone is speaking to you in French, Siri can tell you what they are saying in English through your AirPods.
The feature works best when both participants in a conversation are using Live Translation on AirPods. If you are talking with someone who is not wearing AirPods, you can display a live transcription in the other person's language on your iPhone.
Live Translation is available on the AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and higher-end AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The feature launched in the U.S. and select other countries with iOS 26, but it was not available in the EU until iOS 26.2, as Apple said it needed additional time to ensure compliance with the EU's Digital Markets Act.
iOS 26: Use Live Translation With AirPods
In addition to compatible AirPods, users need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with Apple Intelligence turned on and Apple's Translate app installed.
As of iOS 26.1, Live Translation on AirPods supports the following languages:
English (U.S.)
English (U.K.)
French (France)
German (Germany)
Portuguese (Brazil)
Spanish (Spain)
Chinese — Simplified (China)
Chinese — Traditional (China)
Japanese
Korean
Italian
iOS 26 also has a built-in Live Translation feature in the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps, with no AirPods required.Related Roundups: iOS 26, iPadOS 26Related Forum: iOS 26This article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums
iOS 26.1 brings Apple Intelligence to these eight new languages iOS 26.1 launched last week to all users, and among new features for Apple Music and Fitness, an alarm slider, and AirPods Live Translation expanding, the update also brought Apple Intelligence support to eight new languages.

The M4 Mac mini has completely changed how I view all other desktops [Video] Believe it or not, the M4 Mac mini was released just over a year ago. Apple changed the footprint, design, and form factor to create a compact 5in x 5in x 2in aluminum box with a fan at the bottom. It was a nice upgrade from its predecessor. But, in all honesty, I was not expecting much. I figured it would be a fine computer, especially because Apple debuted it at a $599 price point ($499 now on Amazon). So I thought to myself, there has to be some limitation that everyday users would notice, right? But after using this for an entire year as my main desktop, it has completely distorted how I think about computers and what real value in tech should look like.
