Mozilla Says It’s Finally Done With Two-Faced Onerep In March 2024, Mozilla said it was winding down its collaboration with Onerep -- an identity protection service offered with the Firefox web browser that promises to remove users from hundreds of people-search sites -- after KrebsOnSecurity revealed Onerep's founder had created dozens of people-search services and was continuing to operate at least one of them. Sixteen months later, however, Mozilla is still promoting Onerep. This week, Mozilla announced their partnership with Onerep will officially end next month.

iOS 26.2 Adds These New Features to Your iPhone iOS 26.2 is currently in beta testing. The upcoming update includes a handful of new features and changes on the iPhone, including a new Liquid Glass slider for the Lock Screen's clock, offline lyrics for Apple Music, and more.
In a recent press release, Apple confirmed that iOS 26.2 will be released to all users in December, but it did not provide a specific release date.
Keep reading for eight new features coming with iOS 26.2. The update is compatible with the iPhone 11 and newer, but some features require a newer iPhone.
Liquid Glass Slider on Lock Screen
A new slider in the Lock Screen customization menu lets you adjust the opacity of Liquid Glass for the clock, allowing you to decide how clear or frosted it appears.
This comes after iOS 26.1 added "Clear" and "Tinted" options for Liquid Glass overall.
Offline Lyrics in Apple Music
iOS 26.2 adds offline lyric support to Apple Music, allowing you to view a song's lyrics even when you are not connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Sleep Score Revisions
iOS 26.2 and watchOS 26.2 have revised Sleep Score ranges:
Very Low: 0-40 (previously 0-29)
Low: 41-60 (previously 30-49)
OK: 61-80 (previously 50-69)
High: 81-95 (previously 70-89)
Very High: 96-100 (previously 90-100)Apple says sleep scores are calculated based on how long you slept, the consistency of when you fell asleep, and the frequency and duration of waking up during the night. The feature is available in the Health app on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 26, and in the Sleep app on all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 26.
Alarms for Reminders
iOS 26.2 lets you set alarms for reminders in Apple's Reminders app.
When adding a reminder, selecting a time and then toggling on the "Urgent" option will cause an alarm to go off at the designated time.
Apple Podcasts Enhancements
Apple's Podcasts app has three new features on iOS 26.2, including automatic chapters for episodes, timed links on the screen, and the ability to view other podcasts that a podcast mentions right from the audio player and the transcript.
Apple News Revamp
In the Apple News app, there is now a dedicated "Following" tab, and buttons for quick access to topics like sports, puzzles, politics, business, and food.
iPhone Screen Flash for Notifications
Starting with iOS 26.2, your iPhone's screen can flash when you receive a notification. Previously, this setting was limited to the LED camera flash on the back of the iPhone.
In the Settings app, under Accessibility → Audio & Visual → Flash for Alerts, there are now options for LED Flash, Screen, and Both. Or, you can keep the setting turned off.
AirPods Live Translation in EU
iOS 26.2 makes Live Translation on AirPods available in the EU.
Live Translation allows you to understand someone who is speaking a different language than you. For example, if you speak English, and someone is speaking to you in French, Siri can tell you what they are saying in English through your AirPods.
The feature works best when both participants in a conversation are using Live Translation on AirPods. If you are talking with someone who is not wearing AirPods, you can display a live transcription in the other person's language on your iPhone.
Live Translation is available on the AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and higher-end AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The feature launched in the U.S. and select other countries with iOS 26, but it was not available in the EU until iOS 26.2, as Apple said it needed additional time to ensure compliance with the EU's Digital Markets Act.
iOS 26: Use Live Translation With AirPods
In addition to compatible AirPods, users need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with Apple Intelligence turned on and Apple's Translate app installed.
As of iOS 26.1, Live Translation on AirPods supports the following languages:
English (U.S.)
English (U.K.)
French (France)
German (Germany)
Portuguese (Brazil)
Spanish (Spain)
Chinese — Simplified (China)
Chinese — Traditional (China)
Japanese
Korean
Italian
iOS 26 also has a built-in Live Translation feature in the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps, with no AirPods required.Related Roundups: iOS 26, iPadOS 26Related Forum: iOS 26This article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

Apple Teaming Up With Real Madrid in Two Ways Apple is teaming up with the iconic Spanish soccer team Real Madrid on two projects that promise to provide an ultimate viewing experience for fans.
First, Apple will be releasing a new documentary about Real Madrid on the Vision Pro next year, according to GQ España. The documentary will be in the Apple Immersive format, meaning it will be a 180-degree 8K recording with Spatial Audio.
The documentary was filmed with more than 30 specialized Blackmagic cameras designed to capture 3D depth, during the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Juventus in October. It will provide a behind-the-scenes view of the match, and it captures the atmosphere of Real Madrid's iconic Bernabéu stadium.
There is already a "Real Madrid: Until The End" documentary available on the Apple TV streaming service, but it was not shot in the Apple Immersive format.
Apple is also working on a second, bigger project that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez refers to as "Infinite Bernabéu."
With this technology, Pérez told GQ España that "it will be like opening the stadium doors to the entire planet, without limits, without barriers, and with a level of technology that will mark a turning point in the world of sports."
Perhaps this means that at least some Real Madrid matches will be live streamed in the Apple Immersive format on the Vision Pro, like select Los Angeles Lakers games will be this season. However, the specific plans remain to be seen.
In related news, Apple celebrated 40 years of operating in Spain by hosting a live performance at its Puerta del Sol store in Madrid.
The event was captured with iPhone 17 Pro cameras.
"There's no better way to celebrate Apple's 40 years in Spain than by highlighting the incredible creativity and talent that make this country so special," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.
More details about the celebration can be found in Apple's press release.

iPhone Users Can Now AirDrop Files to Android Devices Apple and Google have teamed up for a new cross-platform feature that allows for file sharing between iPhone and Android users. With AirDrop on the iPhone and QuickShare on Pixel 10 devices, there is a new file transfer function available.
The file sharing option works on Apple devices that include iPhone, iPad, and Mac, along with the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Fold.
According to Google, Apple device users will need to change their AirDrop visibility to Everyone for 10 Minutes to be able to accept a file transfer from a Pixel 10 device. With that setting enabled, a file coming from an Android user looks identical to an AirDrop file from an iPhone user, featuring the same notification and tap to accept option.
To receive files from an Apple user, the Pixel 10 user will need to turn on the Everyone for 10 minutes setting or enter into Receive mode on the Quick Share page. Files are saved in the Files app.
Google says that the QuickShare and AirDrop interoperability was designed with a multi-layered security approach to ensure a safe sharing experience regardless of platform. There's a secure sharing channel, built-in platform protections for Android and iOS, and a consent requirement before a file is received.
Connections between devices are direct and peer-to-peer, so data is not routed through a server. For file transfers in both directions, the Apple device or the Pixel 10 device displays the other person's device name for verification purposes.
As of right now, the feature only works in the Everyone for 10 Minutes AirDrop sharing mode, but Google says that it would like to work with Apple to support "Contacts Only" mode in the future.

These new AI features are coming to macOS Tahoe 26.2 and Mac Studio Macworld
Apple released the macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 3 earlier this week and it has a couple of new features that will be of interest to AI developers.
The first was actually introduced in the 26.2 beta 2 a few weeks ago and enhanced in the current beta. Developers implementing the open-source MLX framework can now leverage the Neural Accelerator in the new M5 chip. In a white paper, Apple states that MLX can be used “for a wide variety of applications ranging from numerical simulations and scientific computing to machine learning.” The white paper also provides benchmarks on the effect of the Neural Accelerator on performance, stating that the M5 is 19 to 27 percent faster than the M4.
The other new feature is an enhancement to the ability to create AI clusters with the Mac Studio. Developers can now create clusters using the Mac Studio’s Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, which makes it much easier to put together, instead of using RDMA Ethernet cards and optical modules. For example, a cluster of four M3 Ultra Mac Studios was created to run an early access build of Exo 1.0, experimental software that allows users to build and run AI clusters at home. The cluster used less than 500 watts of power, which is 10 times lower than a typical GPU cluster.
The 26.2 beta also includes a few new non-AI features, most notably the new “Edge Light” effect that appears on screen during video calls. If you’re interested, you can join the developer program and get access to the macOS and other Apple OS betas.

Apple releases another limited-edition designer iPhone accessory Macworld
Apple is celebrating its 40th anniversary of accessibility, and to commemorate it, the company has released a special iPhone grip. The Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand is a phone grip that attaches through MagSafe and is available in the online Apple Store (U.S. only) for $70.
In an interview with Elle Decor, designer Bailey Hikawa came up with the design after interviewing iPhone users with varying disabilities. The design allows the grip to be held in different ways, and it can also be used as a stand. The product is made of “soft-touch premium silicone” and attaches via MagSafe. It is available in Chartreuse (lime green) and Crater (marbled gray). Hikawa is known for her sculptural iPhone cases and unique toilet seats.
Apple
“This is one of many accessories that are out there that solve unique problems for some people.” Apple’s Sarah Herrlinger said to Elle Decor.
Like the iPhone Pocket released last week, the Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand is listed as a “Limited Edition” item, which implies that there’s a set number of these that were made. The iPhone Pocket sold out incredibly quickly, so if you’re interested, grab on before it’s gone.

UtahAs it turns out, two more states have "signed on to adopt ID in Apple Wallet in the future," according to their government websites:Arkansas
VirginiaArkansas launched a mobile ID app in August. It works with Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet, but Apple Wallet support is coming later.
Virginia launched a mobile ID app last week, and it announced it will "prepare for integration with digital wallets" in the "coming months."
Apple Wallet IDs are accepted at TSA checkpoints in more than 250 airports in the U.S., for domestic travel. Given that Apple Wallet IDs are not accepted by law enforcement, and lack many other use cases, carrying a physical ID is still necessary.
To set up the feature, open the Wallet app and tap on the plus sign in the top-right corner. Next, select Driver's License and ID Cards and follow the steps.
If you live in a state that does not yet offer Apple Wallet IDs, you can now create a Digital ID based on your U.S. passport, and present it at the same participating TSA checkpoints, for age and identity verification purposes during domestic travel. It is not a replacement for a physical passport, and it cannot be used for international travel.
Here are just some of the airports that offer the feature — there are hundreds of others:Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Apple Watch Users Claim Workout App Is Now Worse in Every Way Apple Watch owners have been voicing their frustration online over changes to the Workout app that Apple introduced in watchOS 26, with many finding the redesigned interface makes starting exercises difficult and exasperating.
When Apple launched watchOS 26 in September, the Workout app went from large, easily tapped workout tiles to a scrolling, corner-button interface. Instead of tapping a workout once to begin, users now select the workout type, and then tap a smaller play button that appears after a brief animation. Apple has also integrated music and podcast setup directly into the Workout app itself, so users can configure audio to automatically begin playing when they start exercising.
However, many of the changes appear to have become a major source of frustration over the last couple of months, based on a Reddit thread on r/AppleWatch that's full of complaints. "Touch targets are way too small," one user wrote. "Often times I have to tap the play button several times to get the workout to start."
Another user said the update has been "absolutely horrible," adding that "activating a swimming workout has become impossible once in the pool." Several swimmers echoed this view. One notes that the latest design makes it "impossible to reliably start or switch workouts once you're wet or mid-lap."
The redesigned layout also moves common controls like goal settings, quick-start options, and frequently used workouts into different positions. Long-time users say this breaks years of muscle memory. "What I used to be able to do in my sleep without thinking now takes my full brain capacity and always annoys me just before my workout," one user noted.
Some users also report reliability issues, like tapping the start button and seeing the press animation without the workout actually starting, or walking workouts failing to register completely. Mis-starts are another recurring issue. "I've accidentally started the wrong workout so many times," one user wrote. "The play button loads late, so I think I'm scrolling, but I actually tap it the moment it appears." Another said they've watched the button animate when tapped, "and then found out later that it didn't actually register."
The old Workout interface in watchOS 18
"The scrolling is so bad now," wrote another user, while others said the interface simply feels laggy. One explained that "the delay between selecting and starting is so long that I constantly overshoot or open the wrong thing."
Some users have turned to Siri voice commands to bypass the new interface altogether, while others rely on the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra models to start workouts directly. A few say they've been letting auto-detection handle walking and cycling sessions simply because it's less tedious than navigating the UI.
What have your experiences been with the Workout app on Apple Watch since the watchOS 26 update? Do you get on with the redesigned interface, or is it a step backwards from watchOS 18? Let us know in the comments. This article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

The one thing that’s immediately noticeable with our recommended 4K monitor, the BenQ MA270UP, is its impressive image quality that makes it an affordable alternative to Apple’s 5K Studio Display. Colors are full of life, and the detail is excellent. One standout aspect of the image quality is how sharp the text appears. This is great for production and design work, but it can even make it more enjoyable to read and write. You might be able to find a 27-inch 4K display that’s a little cheaper, but it won’t look this good. It’s available with either a matte (MA270U) or glossy screen (MA270UP). –Roman Loyola

We tend to think of USB hubs for port-deficient MacBooks, and you’d imagine that the Mac mini and Mac Studio have an army of ports in comparison to Apple’s laptops. The Mac version fixes all the technical problems from the PC game, and CD Projekt Red has done an impressive job adapting it for the latest Apple silicon Macs. The first-person viewpoint initially suggests that Cyberpunk is a relatively straightforward FPS shoot ‘em up, but it’s actually a deep and challenging role-playing game, and it’s nice to see an RPG that is bold enough to step into the future rather than just relying on the tired old fantasy clichés of dungeons and dragons. Watch out for this clever and dangerous new ‘Apple Support’ hoax Macworld
Most Apple customers have learned to be cautious about messages claiming to come from the company’s support services. It’s vital to check URLs and email addresses for small discrepancies, scan the messages themselves for spelling mistakes, formatting errors, and other giveaway signs of danger, and treat everything as suspect until you know for sure that it came from Apple itself.
All of this remains true. But an alarming new scam shows that even authentic Apple messages and alerts can be hijacked to serve attackers’ malicious purposes.
As reported this week by AppleInsider, a user named Eric Moret was recently taken in by an attack which attempted to steal his Apple account credentials, and almost succeeded. Unlike most such attempts, it seemed convincing because it began and was punctuated by real Apple messages. The ingenious part of the attack was the way real and fake messages were blended together with precise timing.
The first sign that something was wrong was a series of two-factor notifications, all of them genuine, across multiple devices. This was followed by an automated call from Apple reading out another verification code. All of this set off alarm bells, of course, but in precisely the way the attackers wanted; it set up the next phase of the attempt.
This is when the attackers entered the fray. Moret received a call from an Atlanta number, claiming to be from Apple Support and warning of an attempt to hijack his account. They spoke calmly, he says, didn’t act aggressively or try to rush him into any particular action, and simply told him to expect a second call with more details. This duly took place, but was accompanied by another clever piece of trickery: a genuine email from Apple indicating that a support case had been opened.
Backed up by the real notifications and messages, the call was given the sheen of legitimacy. Moret followed the caller’s instructions to reset his Apple ID password, and once again, the attacker showed reassuring patience in not asking to be told the new password or any verification codes.
Instead, the trap was sprung a few moments later when Moret received a text with a link that would supposedly “close the support ticket.” This showed the (real) case number and otherwise looked legitimate. And just at the moment when it asked for a confirmation code to be entered, one arrived from Apple. Understandably, Moret entered the code, instantly giving the attackers access to his account.
He was only saved from disaster by a pop-up warning that his Apple ID had signed in on an unknown machine–a pop-up which the caller was prepared enough to anticipate, and which they claimed was nothing to worry about, though Morey’s natural suspicions finally kicked in. He ended the call, immediately changed his password again, and breathed a sigh of relief.
There are two lessons here. One is that malicious actors constantly evolve and refine their methods, and users need to stay informed; the same old defensive practices we’ve relied on in the past won’t necessarily work in the future. But the second is that it isn’t enough to verify that one message or alert genuinely comes from Apple–we need to verify them all. If you get an unexpected support call, assume it’s fake until proven otherwise. If in doubt hang up and contact Apple via official means.
This story ended happily, but it’s vital to stay wary and skeptical to ensure you don’t end up suffering the disaster Eric Moret narrowly avoided.

Apple Reportedly Canceled Orders of Chinese iPhone 17 Pro Displays Apple has reportedly reassigned BOE's planned OLED panel allocation for the iPhone 17 Pro to Samsung after the Chinese supplier failed to resolve reliability issues ahead of mass production, according to a new report from ZDNet Korea.
BOE was preparing to supply up to 10 million OLED panels for the iPhone 17 Pro in the Chinese market after receiving initial mass-production approval from Apple early in the third quarter of 2025. The supplier's progress apparently stalled due to unresolved technical problems affecting panel reliability, yield, and performance, making it unable to meet Apple's LTPO performance requirements.
BOE had not previously supplied LTPO OLED panels to Apple, which support features like always-on and ProMotion for refresh rates up to 120Hz. It was purportedly hoping to supply at least 40 million OLED panels to Apple this year, but amid rapidly falling supply forecasts, that is now highly unlikely to occur. BOE is said to have resolved the issues by mid-November, by which time it was too late and Apple's supply plans had changed.
Samsung Display will now seemingly take over BOE's planned volume for the iPhone 17 Pro. Samsung was previously expected to supply around 80 million OLED panels for the iPhone 17 lineup. This figure is now projected to rise to approximately 90 million units as a result of the reallocation.
Apple remains dependent on Samsung Display and LG Display for high-specification OLED manufacturing as it scales LTPO technology across more of its devices.Related Roundup: iPhone 17 ProTags: BOE, SamsungBuyer's Guide: iPhone 17 Pro (Buy Now)Related Forum: iPhoneThis article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

I used Google Gemini to design the next iPhone. Here are the hilarious results Macworld
AI is everywhere. Whether we’re talking about Apple Intelligence, Genmoji, Siri, Gemini, or ChatGPT, it’s hard to avoid the sudden infusion of bots on our iPhones, Macs, and just about every other device we use.
And it’s not about to stop anytime soon. Apple Intelligence is set to have a huge year in 2026, with the new and improved Siri finally getting its moment in the spotlight. In fact, Apple is rumored to be partnering with Google as the foundation for the new Siri, with a custom large language model with a reported 1.2 trillion parameters. That’s a lot of Gemini.
With that in mind, I recently turned to Google’s chatbot to see what it knows about the iPhone, specifically the upcoming foldable iPhone. While the results were impressive and fantastical, it’s a far cry from anything Apple will release next year. But it gives a good glimpse into what Gemini can do and how it thinks. Let’s dive in.
The Gemini iPhone: Features and specifications
Before I cover the prompts I used to design a foldable iPhone, it’s important to point out that the process is usually much more elaborate. Designers hold focus groups, make “mood boards” to capture colors, text, and formatting ideas, and then develop detailed design specs. It’s not an easy process and can often take weeks or even months. I remember visiting Frog Design — the design lab famous for working with Apple in the early days — and talking about the highly technical process they use to determine user intent.
I mention all of that because Google Gemini seems blissfully unaware of what it actually takes to design a product. The bot was happy to take my basic design concepts and dive right into creating an AI-generated mock-up. That said, Gemini is helpful for quick images to help you see what the final product might look like.
I started by listing a few basic specs and asked Gemini to include a holographic display that emits from a tiny projector.
Here are the prompts I used:Design a foldable iPhoneMake it thinner than the iPhone AirUse two displays that fold — about eight inches diagonallyProject a holographic display onto a tableUsing a tiny projector lens
Of course, you can elaborate even further and write an entire page of instructions. Next, I asked Gemini to take my feature list and flesh it out more. I was impressed with the level of detail and excited to see my first design mock-up. Here’s part of the specs:
FeatureSpecificationRationaleHolographic ProjectorMicro-LED or DLP Projector with a tiny, integrated lens. The core innovation, allowing for shared, interactive, and spatial computing experiences.Projected DisplayProjects a holographic image onto a flat surface (e.g., a table).Allows users to interact with a 3D or 2D interface (e.g., a full-size virtual keyboard, shared game board, or large-scale document) beyond the physical screen size.Camera (Internal)Under-Display Camera (UDC), likely 24MP resolution.Eliminates the notch/hole-punch for a truly seamless main screen experience.Biometric SecurityTouch ID integrated into the power button.A reliable and space-efficient solution compared to implementing Face ID on a foldable screen.
The Gemini iPhone: First design mock-ups
Gemini had listed the design specs and even named the device the Helios, which has a nice ring to it, though I prefer iPhone Fold myself. I then asked Gemini to show me the initial design mock-up. The first design iteration was not quite right, though — which is par for the course with modern chatbots. The design was far too thick, the projection didn’t look remotely possible, and in many ways, the device didn’t even look like an iPhone at all. And it didn’t actually fold.
Google Gemini made some educated guesses about the next iPhone at first.Google Gemini/Foundry
Yet, I only had to type in a few more prompts to adjust the mock-up. For example, I asked Gemini to make the phone thinner than the current iPhone Air, and that worked wonders. I also had to tell Gemini to make the projector lens much smaller. Chatbots respond to specific commands. “Make the design thinner” doesn’t work as well as “make the design thinner than the iPhone Air” because there’s a reference point. The next design looked better:
Google Gemini made a valiant second attempt at this design, showing a foldable phone.Google Gemini/Foundry
I wasn’t quite ready to accept the mock-up, and this is where you can really benefit from the instant gratification aspects I mentioned. I asked Gemini to start over with a new design, taking all of my previous comments into consideration. Lo and behold, Gemini created a mock-up that was quite impressive. It “felt” much more like an Apple product as well. I finally could live with the basic design for the holographic display, even if it wasn’t perfect.
The iPhone Fold design by Google Gemini, a third attempt.Google Gemini/Foundry
The Gemini iPhone: Tweaking the design and the mock-ups
Once you have a design you like, it’s possible to then make minor adjustments — as long as you are specific about the prompts. For example, I asked Gemini to make the design “just a hair thinner” and that worked because Gemini understood my intent.
It was also easy to change the color. I used this prompt: “Don’t change anything about the design except the color of the phone. Make it all white not black or silver.” Amazingly, that worked instantly and I felt like the design was starting to take shape. I decided to have some fun with my design and asked Gemini to put the phone in a coffeeshop instead so I could envision what it would look like in a familiar setting. I asked Gemini to put people in the background as well.
Here’s what that mock-up looked like:
Google Gemini can change the color of a mock-up very quickly.Google Gemini/Foundry
Gemini surprised me with my next request. I asked the bot to add Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, to the photo. I was shocked because I didn’t think a Google product would take a recognizable person (even though he is a public figure) and add him to an iPhone mock-up image. However, Gemini was happy to oblige even if the result looked a bit comical. The phone was way too big, and the person in the photo didn’t really look completely like Tim Cook (who wears glasses).
Google Gemini mock-up of someone who kind of looks like Tim Cook holding an iPhone Fold.Google Gemini/Foundry
What’s wrong with this process
Designing the next iPhone took me about 30 minutes, including all of the back-and-forth with Gemini asking for design tweaks. Anything worth doing and worth doing well takes time, though. Think of building a business. You can’t come up with an idea and launch a company in five minutes. You have to study your demographic audience, understand their motivations and desires, tap into their felt needs.
Creative work is the same. While I loved seeing instant results, I didn’t feel the final design relayed a working prototype of a legitimate product that could exist in the real world. Icons were too small, speaker holes were everywhere, the selfie camera is impractical, and the whole thing is just way too big. And none of the images showed a phone with an actual folding screen.
Yet, it all seemed like an illusion. What was missing was the full design process — what are the user expectations, how does it compare to other devices, and who will actually use it? My main takeaway is that Gemini is a fine way to envision initial sketches, almost like the napkin phase of design, where you are roughing out an idea. When I asked Gemini to list all of the design specs and features first, eventually, things started to take shape a bit more.
It’s hard to say how this will translate to a Gemini LLM on the iPhone, but it’s a look into why Apple has taken such a long time to deliver its next-gen Siri. AI doesn’t live in the real world — it is a figment of our imagination. And the Gemini-powered Siri will need to have a much firmer grasp of reality.

ChatGPT Atlas Browser Gains Vertical Tabs, Passkeys, and More OpenAI is rolling out the first major update to ChatGPT Atlas, its dedicated AI browser for Mac that includes ChatGPT integration.
There are nine new features in all for the Chromium-based browser after the update. Visually, the most notable UI change is a new option for vertical tabs that change size dynamically in the adjustable sidebar, plus there's a new interface for managing downloads.
Meanwhile, the app now features iCloud passkey support, so users can create and use passkeys for websites that are saved to iCloud. It's also now possible to import Chrome extensions and set the default search engine to Google.
A setting has been added to select multiple tabs at once (Shift + click), as well as to use Control + Tab to cycle to the most recently used tab. Lastly, the responsiveness of the Ask ChatGPT sidebar has also been improved.
Apple's Safari browser does not have AI integration as of yet, but Chrome does. With OpenAI, Google, and also Perplexity offering AI browsers, Apple may need to integrate Siri and other AI tools into Safari in the future to keep up with its main rivals.
The Atlas update follows yesterday's rollout of GPT-5.1 Pro, which OpenAI says provides "clearer, more capable answers for complex work." In early testing users rated the model especially highly for writing help, data science, and business questions, highlighting improved clarity, relevance, and structure in its responses.Tag: ChatGPTThis article, "" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums
Xcode 26.1.1: Double-Tap to Open File in New Tab Missing? Previously, in older versions of Xcode, double-tapping a file in the navigation tree would open it in a new tab. Now, with Xcode Version 26.1.1 (17B100), this behavior seems to be gone. I tried looking for an option in Xcode’s settings but couldn't find anything related to this. Do you have any idea if this […]

Matter 1.5 Launches With Camera Support The Connectivity Standards Alliance that counts Apple as a member today released Matter 1.5, the latest version of the cross-platform smart home standard. Matter 1.5 includes support for cameras, closures, and soil sensors, along with updated energy management capabilities.
Matter 1.5 will allow for Matter-enabled cameras without custom APIs or integrations. Matter cameras support live video and audio streaming through WebRTC, enabling two-way talk and local and remote access. Multi-stream specifications are supported, as are pan-tilt-zoom controls, motion detection, privacy zones, and flexible storage options. Clip playback and storage are handled by the device maker or platform, and on-camera audio and video analysis is not available.
The specification will work with doorbell cameras, indoor and outdoor security cameras, flood light cameras, baby and nanny cameras, pan/tilt cameras, and more. Cameras can connect with Wi-Fi, PoE, or Ethernet. There is built-in backward compatibility for most modern cameras, but manufacturers will need to decide which devices will get support.
There is an updated and unified approach to closures, a category that includes devices like window shades, drapes, awnings, gates, and garage doors. Different kinds of motion are supported, such as sliding, rotating, and opening, along with multiple configurations.
The Alliance says that consumers can expect more consistent and flexible control of closures across apps and ecosystems, along with clear knowledge of whether a device like a garage door is open or closed.
For plant care, Matter 1.5 adds support for soil sensors. Soil sensors are able to measure soil moisture and temperature, and can be combined with Matter-based water valves or irrigation systems for automating watering.
Matter 1.5 includes new energy management features. Utilities, grid operators, and energy services can provide real-time and forecasted pricing, tariff, and carbon data with devices. Devices can use the information to estimate and report true energy costs and carbon impact. Better smart metering support provides more accurate cost and consumption tracking.
Now that the Matter 1.5 standard has been released, manufacturers will be able to develop new kinds of Matter devices, and platforms will be able to integrate support for those devices.

M5 Apple Vision Pro Launches in Korea and Taiwan on Nov 28 Apple has announced pre-orders are now open for the Vision Pro with M5 chip and Dual Knit Band in Korea and Taiwan, preceding a launch in both countries on Friday, November 28.
Apple's updated Vision Pro moves to the M5 chip, bringing a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine, while retaining 16GB of RAM.
Battery life has been increased to about three hours of video playback, up from 2.5 hours. The displays render 10% more pixels and now support a 120Hz refresh rate for sharper visuals and reduced motion blur.
The M5 also adds hardware-accelerated ray tracing, mesh shading, and up to 50% faster AI performance. Design and connectivity remain unchanged, including the R1 chip, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and the tethered battery.
The updated Dual Knit Band combines two straps in one piece: an upper strap over the head and a lower strap across the back. Tungsten inserts in the lower strap act as counterweights for balance and comfort, and both straps can be adjusted with the Fit Dial.
In Korea, the Apple Vision Pro with M5 chip with Dual Knit Band starts at 4,990,000 won and is available with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacity, while the Dual Knit Band can be purchased separately for 149,000 won.
In Taiwan, the headset and band starts at NT$119,900, while the Dual Knit Band can be had separately for NT$3,490.
Apple launched the M5 Vision Pro on October 15 in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the U.K., the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Another Apple TV show has been pulled from the release schedule at the last minute In September, Apple controversially cancelled the launch of new series The Savant, seemingly in the wake of the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk. The company said it looks forward to releasing the show at a later time, but two months on, there’s still no release date in sight. It’s listed as “coming at a later date” in the TV app.
Meanwhile, Apple TV has perhaps just repeated the same fiasco for a second time. The service was set to premiere French-language series The Hunt on December 3, having released a trailer earlier this month. But now, all references to The Hunt have been scrubbed, including removal of the press release from the Apple TV PR newsroom and the YouTube trailer is now marked private.
