Onkyo’s MSE-U33HB is an external USB Digital Audio Processor that functions somewhat like an external sound card, adding additional audio features and improving sound quality. Input devices connect to the MSE-U33HB, which itself is connected to your Mac and an external speaker system. The product carries a US$199.95 price tag and comes bundled with Peak LE and FUSE. Apple has posted a DVD-ROM firmware update — version 1.2 — for the PowerBook G4 Titanium, offering improved support for the insertion and mounting of optical media. Apple notes that the “installation requires a PowerBook G4 Titanium with an internal DVD-ROM drive and Mac OS 9.1 or later version installed. This update is not for computers using Mac OS X. You must startup your computer using Mac OS 9.1 to use this update.” Currently it is available from your Software Update Control Panel.
