Onkyo’s MSE-U33HB is an external USB Digital Audio Processor that functions somewhat like an external sound card, adding additional audio features and improving sound quality. Input devices connect to the MSE-U33HB, which itself is connected to your Mac and an external speaker system. The product carries a US$199.95 price tag and comes bundled with Peak LE and FUSE. It’s unclear whether the product is shipping now or not.

Macworld UK reports that Callserve has announced a handset-based voice-over-Internet solution called “Webphone” at Internet World UK yesterday. The phone connects to a USB computer, and while presently available for PCs only, a Macintosh version is coming within the next two months, according to the report.

Apple has posted a DVD-ROM firmware update — version 1.2 — for the PowerBook G4 Titanium, offering improved support for the insertion and mounting of optical media. Apple notes that the “installation requires a PowerBook G4 Titanium with an internal DVD-ROM drive and Mac OS 9.1 or later version installed. This update is not for computers using Mac OS X. You must startup your computer using Mac OS 9.1 to use this update.” Currently it is available from your Software Update Control Panel.

Griffin Technology has posted iMic Control 1.2 — a utility that provides additional features and control for the company’s iMic USB audio adapter. According to the Web site, version 1.2 allows the control panel to continue to be used with the Rev 2 version of the iMic as well as some other small fixes that may make the control panel more robust.
