Mac Shutdown X update adds ‘Open page test’ option

Pomola Software has updated Mac Shutdown X (http://pomola.com/products_macshutdown/macshutdown.html), a Mac OS X utility for shutting down a Mac on a specified event or on a specified date and time, to version 1.5.1. The upgrade adds an “Open page test” option in the “Shutdown from Web Page” section, as well as an improved algorithm.

Mac Shutdown X costs US$20. Version 1.5.1 is a free update for registered users. The software is Universal Binary so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher.

Aquafadas releases BannerZest Fun Pics

Aquafadas (http://www.aquafadas.com) has released its latest application, BannerZest Fun Pics, which enables people to create and share animated slideshows on Facebook. It’s free.

To use you select a theme, add photos, customize titles and colors and publish to Facebook wall. BannerZest Fun Pics gives its users access to a wide range of themes. When downloading the app, users get one theme and a hundred credits will be credited to their account so that they can go pick their favorite theme for free.

MEI updates its publishing products

Managing Editor (MEI), a provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, has released Page Director Ad Layout System 5.5, ALS for Magazines 5.5 and AdForce 5.5.

ALS 5.5 is the first universal version of MEI’s flagship software, certified to run natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. For ad layout staffs exporting finished dummies to Adobe InDesign, ALS 5.5 is compatible with InDesign CS3 and CS4 and will soon be the first ALS release to work with InDesign CS5. For Quark users, ALS 5.5 is also compatible with QuarkXPress 7.x and 8.x.
