Micromat announces version 1.1 of Drive Scope

Micromat has released an update to Drive Scope (https://www.micromat.com/products/drive-scope), their drive utility. Version 1.1 provides access to the S.M.A.R.T. data of drives utilizing the newer NVMe interface type.

S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology, and was designed to report on the health of internal and external hard drives. S.M.A.R.T. data was previously available on the Mac only from drives utilizing ATA or SATA interfaces, even using software provided by Apple.

Apple services revenue reaches an all time high

Apple has announced the financial results for its fiscal 2017 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 30. The tech giant posted quarterly revenue of $52.6 billion, an increase of 12% from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.07, up 24%. International sales accounted for 62% of the quarter’s revenue.

GarageBand for iOS brings new Sound Library and classic Beat Sequencer

Apple has announced an update to GarageBand for iOS that provides even more creative options for making music on iPhone and iPad. For instance, it introduces a new GarageBand Sound Library, where users can select and download a variety of free sound packs featuring new instruments and loops.

Beat makers can tap into a new Beat Sequencer instrument inspired by classic drum machines. The app also features new Asian Touch Instruments and updates to Drummer, including six additional players.
