Using data from this year, Self Financial has revealed findings about which streaming platform provides consumers with the best content for their money. 

The study reviews the quality of content across the most popular streaming platforms Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Peacock, as well as two bundle packages: the Disney+/Hulu/HBO Max bundle and the Apple TV+/Peacock bundle). Here are some key stats:

  • Apple TV has the highest average IMDb score for its streaming library (7.0/10), for the 5th year running (2021, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026), but still has the smallest library of content.
  • Prime Video remains the platform offering the most ‘excellent’ quality movies (8+ IMDb score) per $1 spent on its cheapest subscription ($14.99 per month), at 76 movies per dollar, up from 65 in 2025.
  • Apple TV grew the fastest year-on-year (+211.6%), followed by Paramount+ (+186.9%) and Netflix (+141.1%).
  • All individual platforms recorded more ‘excellent’ rated titles in 2026 than in 2025, with Prime Video gaining the most (1,474 new 8+ IMDb rated titles).
  • The average IMDb score has fallen every year since the study began, dropping from 6.7 in 2022 to 6.1 in 2026. Apple TV+ is the only platform to maintain a 7.0+ average throughout.
  • Hulu is no longer available as a standalone streaming service. Disney began merging its content into Disney+ in 2025, with the standalone app set to be discontinued entirely in 2026.
