Apple will sell made-in-India iPhones on the same day new models launch for the first time, reports Bloomberg (a subscription is required to read the article).

The iPhone 15 will be made in India along with models made in China. Bloomberg says this “marks a milestone for India’s electronic ambitions.”

This news precedes Apple’s much-anticipated “Wanderlust” event that will take place today at 10 am (Pacific) at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.

And, of course, we’ll be covering it here at Apple World Today. You can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll see the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max. As for Apple Watches, look for the Apple Watch Series 9 and a second generation Apple Watch Ultra to be unveiled. And there’s a very good chance we’ll see an AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case, as well.

What’s more, Apple is looking at further expanding its manufacturing operations in India. Senior government sources told Business Today TV last month that top representatives from Apple India recently held a detailed meeting with officials from the Finance Ministry to discuss their plans for expanding iPhone manufacturing in India.

According to the sources, the discussions centered around the future of smartphone manufacturing within India and how India’s policies could be aligned to support this initiative.
