The high-end 27-inch (or bigger) iMac won’t arrive this year as expected, but will debut in 2022, according to the to the leaker known as “Dylandkt.”

As noted by MacRumors, Dylandkt doesn’t want to release the bigger all-in-one alongside new MacBook Pro models because it “does not want their devices to compete for attention and delays in product releases have led to this timetable.”

However, the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks we WILL see a bigger iMac (and a 32-inch model at that), as well as new Mac laptops, before the holidays.

My reasoning: the desktop and the laptops will appeal to different users. In other words, I don’t see the high-end iMac and the MacBook Pro updates as competing for the same clients.

I think the new high-end all-in-one will sport the same design as the 24-inch iMac. However, it will sport the successor to the M1 processor. And its display will be 5K resolution compared to 4.5K found on its smaller sibling. What’s more, I expect it to be offered only in space grey and silver, not the colorful hues of the smaller model.
