Vito Technology’s ( Star Walk 2, an update to the company’s stargazing guide for iOS and Android devices, delivers an effortless journey through thousands of stars, comets, and constellations.

Among new features in version 2 are iOS 9 and Watch OS 2 support, including integrated spotlight search, slide over, new widget, new Apple Watch app, notifications for calendar events, New Horizons mission, Portuguese language, and more.

Newly introduced features of iOS 9 are now supported by Star Walk 2. All astronomy objects with information are easily accessible through Spotlight search. Users can open another app without leaving Star Walk 2 with the Slide Over feature, and see the most important information as a complication on Apple Watch.

The new widget for Star Walk 2 is an essential add-on for astronomy enthusiasts who want to keep up with things happening in the sky. By sliding down on the screen you can quickly glance over the upcoming astronomical events and see how good the night is for sky watching.

The ew Apple Watch app for Star Walk 2 will also inform the user about the brightest events like an ISS flyby or an Iridium flare, meteor showers, rise, set and culmination hours for the Sun, Venus, Jupiter, and the Moon. You can set a notification for any event straight from the wearable device. Stargazing index for today (shows if the night is good for watching stars) is integrated as a complication on the watch display. Other changes are the notification settings, details for New Horizons mission and Portuguese localization.

Star Walk 2 is a sequel of the well-known Star Walk app that was released back in 2008 and has acquired more than 10 million users across the world on iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle, and Windows Phone. It’s been an educational best-seller for over five years and won multiple awards, including Apple Design Award in 2010. Star Walk helps to find and identify thousands of stars, satellites, and comets in real time. Using built-in digital compass and motion tracking, this stargazing guide turns the phone into a full-on planetarium.
