Tumult’s Hype (http://tumult.com/hype/), an update to its HTML5 animation builder for Mac OS X, adds to its best-of-breed animator with version 2.5, which adds features supporting Responsive Web Design.

Hype supports the latest HTML5/CSS3 features and uses a keyframe-based animation system with a recorder to create motions and transitions. Responsive Web Design is a trend in web development, allowing designers to craft a single page that will scale appropriately across a variety of devices and screen sizes.

Tumult Hype 2.5’s Flexible Layout options give users control over how animated elements are positioned and scaled when the document resizes. It uses a model of “Springs and Struts,” familiar to iOS developers, and extends it with features such as preserving aspect ratios for images.

Tumult Hype 2.5 also boasts the ability to export compositions as video files or animated GIFs. Plus, it includes new localizations for the following languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. Other features include support for retina images, automatic image optimization, and setting the anchor point for rotation.

Alongside Tumult Hype 2.5, Tumult Inc. has also released Hype Reflect 1.1, its companion app for previewing Hype animations on iOS devices. The new release has been redesigned for iOS 7.

Tumult Hype 2.5 is available at the Mac App Store and the Tumult Store for US$29.99. More product information, a 14-day free trial, and a store link can be found on the Tumult website. Version 2.5 is a free update for registered users of version 2.x. Hype Reflect is a free download at the Apple App Store.
