IK Multimedia has announced the iRig Mic HD, a digital handheld microphone for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac.

The iRig Mic HD sports a 24-bit audiophile-grade A/D converter, a 44.1/96 kHz sampling rate, and a low noise/high definition pre-amp. Featuring metal-body construction and a handheld form factor, it’s designed for interviewers, broadcasters, presenters, singers and musicians. The iRig Mic HD’s standard housing can be mounted on any regular mic stand clip, and its design, featuring detachable cables, keeps its overall size to the minimum for the greatest portability.

It supports a wide range of Apple devices via a series of three detachable cables. It’s purportedly the first handheld microphone that includes a Lightning connector cable for the newest iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models, while a USB cable allows for connection to any Mac computer. A 30-pin cable for legacy iOS models is also available.

The iRig Mic HD comes with free apps, so users can start recording, processing and editing vocals or any other audio source right away. It will cost US$99.99 and will be available from music and electronics retailers worldwide in the second quarter of the year. For more info go towww.irigmichd.com .
