The iPhone 5 debuted in China in December, but it hasn’t boosted Apple’s smartphone share in the country, according to the Canalys research group — as noted by “Macworld UK” (http://tinyurl.com/a9fnutn).

Apple remained the sixth largest smartphone vendor for the most recent fiscal quarter — a position it held in the third quarter. Its market share increased to 8.5% in China in the fourth quarter; that up 0.5% from the previous quarter.

Canalys says Samsung took the top spot with 16% market share. It was followed by Chinese vendors, Lenovo, Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific, Huawei and ZTE.
