If you need networking on the go, you need the Wireless N Pocket Router from TP-Link (www.tp-link.com). Introduced at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, it will be available later this quarter (pricing hasn’t been announced).

Designed for travelers, the TL-WR810N provides 300Mbps wireless networking with limited setup required and no external power adapter so it fits handily into bags and suitcases. Using default pre-encrypted security parameters in AP mode, users can simply plug the device into a power socket, insert a home, office or hotel’s Ethernet cable into one of the device’s two 100Mbps ports and begin using a 300Mbps wireless connection.

Additionally, the TL-WR810N features a USB port allowing users to charge their devices on the go, such as smartphones or tablets. Or you can use it to share files or media on a connected USB flash or hard disk with network connected users within the local network.

The TL-WR810N supports Access Point, Wireless Router, Client, and WISP Router Repeater modes. It sports two RJ45 ports for a wired connection in wireless router mode. Pre-encryption prevents unauthorized access from users outside of the network.

The TL-WR810N’s IP-based bandwidth control allows administrators to determine how much bandwidth is allotted to each computer. And Live Parental Controls allow parents or administrators to establish restricted access policies forĀ children or staff.
