Radiantlabs today introduces Living Earth HD 1.0 for OS X (10.6.8 or higher), a Mac version of their world clock and weather app for iOS. Its available at an introductory price of US$4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Weather category.

Accessed from the menu bar, Living Earth HD provides a live, 3D simulation of our planet at our current moment in time with global weather, forecasts, and world clock for cities around the world. It opens to display a dramatic, simulated, near real-time view of all of Earth from space.

Revealed are HD details of clouds, oceans, weather systems, continents, and city lights. Users can follow the movement of the Earth’s terminator or grey line, which separates day from night. Users may enter any of millions of cities, towns, or landmarks contained in the app’s database.

Once set, the location remains in a permanent, scrolling list of cities, each entry showing a weather summary, temperature, and local time. Clicking on any city listed stops the spinning globe, zooms in, and instantly opens a complete weather forecast for the next seven days, plus up to date info on current weather conditions, including wind speed, humidity, and times for sunrise and sunset.
