Following up on its Thursday report that Apple is in talks with some of the “biggest U.S. cable operators” to use the Apple TV set-top box for live television and other content, the newspaper today adds (http://macte.ch/aWavz) that the vision “includes features designed to simplify accessing and viewing programming and erase the distinction between live and on-demand content.”

Quoting unnamed “people briefed on Apple’s plans,” the “Journal” says Apple wants to give viewers the ability to start any show at any time through a digital-video recorder that would store TV shows on the Internet. Viewers even could start a show minutes after it has begun. The article says the revamped Apple TV would also:

° Sport an user interface could resemble the navigation icons on the iPad;

° Offer space on a TV screen for social media features, such as sharing TV shows through services like Twitter;

° Allow users to be able to access content from Apple products like iPhones and iPads.
