Cheetah 3D 5.5 for Mac OS X adds particle system

Cheetah 3D (http://www.cheetah3d.com) — software for modeling, animating and rendering 3D objects — has been updated to version 5.5. The upgrade adds a particle system.

Now you can create not only fountains and waterfalls but also complex motion graphics and scene from nature, like swaying forests. Since the particle system supports instancing, it is now possible to render extremely complex scenes like jungles or hordes of aliens. Since the new particle system is also scriptable, you can even create your own custom particle systems via an easy-to-learn Javascript API.

TransGaming announces new Mac titles

TransGaming, has announced the redesign of its Mac digital distribution portal, GameTreeOnline.com, and the release of new Mac games. 

Announced at this week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, also known as E3, GameTreeOnline.com features two new Disney Interactive titles, Toy Story 3 and Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey, both available immediately and only from GameTreeOnline.com as digital downloads. In addition, GameTreeOnline.com will release Her Interactive’s first award-winning Nancy Drew franchise title for Mac on June 29.

Analyst ups Apple stock target price due to higher iPhone expectations

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has raised his target price on Apple stock from US$330 to $348 due to higher expectations for iPhone unit sales in the June quarter, as reported by “Barron’s” (http://macosg.me/2/e1).

Munster has increased his forecast for iPhone sales in the quarter to 9.5 million, from 8.5 million, adding $610 million in revenue and 12 cents a share to his financial estimates. The analyst is forecasting $15.01 billion and $2.88 a share. He also lifted his unit forecast for the September quarter to 9.5 million units from 9 million.

iPhone 4 orders through the roof, supplies constrained

Despite all the technical and server snafus, AT&T has sold out of the company’s allotment of iPhone 4 pre-order units and isn’t taking any more orders. And Apple has bumped its shipping date for the iPhone 4 from June 24 to July 2.

AT&T said in a statement that June 15 “was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history.” That’s when pre-orders for the iPhone 4 began. It also says that “pre-orders for iPhone are temporarily suspended.”
