The Micro Cell technology AT&T recently announced is sort of like a 3G WiFi device. They can be really small and amount to a mini cell tower connected to your Internet connection. The fact that they are needed says a lot about the network holes that bug us all who use iPhones, iPads, and, for that matter, all junk (non Apple) cell phones that use AT&T.

Apple updates MobileMe, releases Find my iPhone app

Apple has updated MobileMe, its US$99-per-year suite of Internet tools. And it’s released an accompanying, free Find my iPhone app. However, contrary to some rumors, Apple is not offering MobileMe for free.

The revved MobileMe sports an updated version of Mail Web with a tweaked interface that offers widescreen and compact views. Other changes include server-based rules for sorting messages, better SSL security, an enhanced formatting toolbar, better junkmail filtering, and the ability to send mail from an external address.
