Apple retail ‘store 001’ attains cult status

Apple’s first retail store in Glendale, California, has attained cult status as “store 001” in Apple’s ongoing retail initiative, reports “Reuters” (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN0923781020101210).

Doors actually opened on May 19, 2001, the same day as another Apple store in Virginia’s Tysons Corner, a shopping mecca outside Washington D.C.. But the one in a brown-brick mall in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale is listed as store 001.

Foxconn workers now top one million

Foxconn Technology Group, the world’s largest contract maker of electronics, said its Chinese workforce now exceeds one million employees as the company continues to hire during the holiday season, reports “Bloomberg” (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-10/foxconn-says-its-china-workforce-exceeds-1-million-employees.html?).

Louis Woo, special assistant to the chief executive officer, says customer demand is spurring hiring. Foxconn makes, among other things, iPads and HP. computers.

Ace Metrix Ad-of-the-Week: ‘iPad is Amazing’ from Apple

Ace Metrix, which studies television advertising effectiveness, has announced the Ad-of-the-Week for the week ending Dec. 7, 2010. The “iPad is Amazing” ad from Apple registered the top overall weekly Ace Score with a score of 630, out of a possible 950.

The new spot dons the same successful theme as prior high scoring iPad spots and showcases even more ways to leverage the device, like hooking up your iPad to the television. The spot is a hit with the 16-20 year old crowd, scoring over 70 points above norm for that demographic.

It’s about time for more iPad 2 rumors. Component suppliers for Apple Inc’s iPad are gearing up for a new round of production in the first quarter, reports “Reuters” (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6B90PW20101210), quoting unnamed sources, one of which said the product will be a revamp of the popular tablet computer including front- and back-mounted cameras.

Jumsoft adds some smartness to its Mail Stationery

Jumsoft (http://www.jumsoft.com) has advanced its array of design templates with the release of Mail Stationery Smart. The latest stationery pack for Apple’s Mail contains 100 templates, as well as a bonus pack of 10 holiday greetings.

Two-thirds of the Mail Stationery Smart set match the design of other Jumsoft’s products for Pages and Keynote, allowing users to assemble a full line of coordinated templates and themes, says Algirdas Unguvaitis, general manager of Jumsoft.
