Apple using iTun.es domain as link shortener

Apple — which has owned the iTun.es domain since December 2006 and is now rolling out Twitter integration for its Ping social networking service on iTunes — is now using the domain as a link shortener, reports “MacRumors (http://www.macrumors.com).

Users sharing links to tghe iTunes Store content to Twitter will now see iTun.es being used to generate the links for their Tweets. Third-party Twitter applications may, however, continue to display Twitter’s default “t.co” shortened version, notes “MacRumors.”
