Bank of America, Citigroup eyeing the iPhone

Bank of America and Citigroup are considering whether to let employees use an iPhone as an alternative to Research In Motion.’s BlackBerry for corporate e-mail, reports “Bloomberg Businessweek” (http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-11-05/bank-of-america-citigroup-said-to-test-apple-iphone.html), quoting ” three people familiar with the plans.”

Apple introduces Mac Pro Server configuration

After announcing that the Xserve is being at the start of 2010, Apple has quietly introduced a new server configuration option for the Mac Pro. The configuration starts at US$2,999.

The new Mac Pro Server configuration includes a 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Xeon processor, 8GB of RAM, two 1TB hard drives, an ATI Radeon HD 5770 video card with 1GB of RAM, and Mac OS X Server with an unlimited client license. Build-to-order options offer up to two 2.93GHz six-core Xeons, as well as up to 8TB of storage across all four drive bays. Also optional are Fiber Channel, hardware RAID cards and Xsan 2.

UA becomes RTAS developer for Avid Pro Tools

Universal Audio (http://www.uaudio.com) has announced that it’s an Avid RTAS developer, and that the UAD-2 platform is now compatible with Avid’s family of Pro Tools music creation and audio production solutions.

While a significant percentage of the 40,000 UAD Powered Plug-In users worldwide are already using Pro Tools solutions, with this agreement, these users will be assured of an improved workflow in the future, says Universal Audio Inc founder and Chairman Bill Putnam Jr.
