Snow Leopard tutorial DVD explores Mac security, technical features

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.5

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.5. You can obtain it via the Software Updates component of the Mac OS X System Preferences app. According to Apple, the update:

° Improves reliability with Microsoft Exchange servers.

° Addresses performance of some image-processing operations in iPhoto and Aperture.

° Addresses stability and performance of graphics applications and games.

° Resolves a delay between print jobs.

° Addresses a printing issue for some HP printers connected to an AirPort Extreme.

° Resolves an issue when dragging contacts from Address Book to iCal.

Contrary to reports published elsewhere on the Web, “Macworld” (http://www.macworld.com/article/155623/2010/11/apple_wigear.html) has confirmed that Apple did not acquire Wi-Gear, the maker of iMuffs Bluetooth headphones.

“Two words: ‘I wish!’” Wi-Gear CEO Mark Pundsack said via e-mail, when asked about the rumors that Apple had bought the company.

Dana-Farber turns to iPads to help cancer patients through treatment

Andrea Casella comes to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston every week for chemotherapy to treat her lung cancer. It’s a full day.

“I start with blood work and then I have a doctor’s appointment and then I come in for the chemo which is a couple of hours. It’s exhausting,” says Casella. “And I get bored quickly. You can only read so many magazines and books. It really puts you to sleep.”
