Apple releases RAW, security updates

Apple has released The Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.4 and Security Update 2010-007.

The Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.4 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1072) extends RAW image format compatibility to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’09 for the new cameras. It’s a 6MB download and requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher.

Security Update 2010-007 brings the same security patches included in the recent Mac OS X 10.6.5 release to Macs running 10.5 (client or server versions). You can obtain it via the Software Update component of Mac OS X’s Systems Preferences app.

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/6511af/the_worldwide_ere) says standalone e-readers will continue to address the needs of avid readers, to whom the reading experience is central, while tablets such as the iPad “are better suited for consumers who prefer a stronger multimedia experience, and only light reading.”
