Invers Software has released iCalamus 1.21 (http://www.icalamus.net/icalamus/index.php?lan=en), an update of their multi-lingual, frame-oriented desktop publishing solution for Mac OS X 10.4.5 and higher.

iCalamus offers a way of creating simple posters, to complex magazines, scientific works and book publishing. Version 1.21 now supports iPhoto 08/09/11 and Aperture 3 calendar and photo book documents for printing as photographer book documents externally at a great price.

Developed exclusively in Objective C with intensive usage of Apple’s Cocoa library, iCalamus takes advantage of the Mac OS X operating system, offering Unicode support and a Smart PDF import for creating mockups. And since iCalamus is modular, invers Software will be creating its new Open Development Area (ODA) allowing third-party developers to leverage the plug-in interface.

iCalamus can import all image and text formats that are supported by Mac OS X. Easily grab text content from large PDF documents for further text processing. Images from digital cameras, scanners or iPhoto libraries can be imported, as well as complete web pages. Print output supports all printers, and iCalamus can optionally output documents in various PDF formats (e.g. PDF-X, encrypted PDF, PDF Fax).

A single user license for iCalamus costs US$198. You can download the unregistered version, which has some restrictions but is fully functional for photographer book documents of all kinds.
