Fidelity Media has released MegaSeg 5.5.1 (http://www.megaseg.com), an update of the Mac-based DJ and radio automation software. According to Fidelity Media Founder Jason Cox, the new version — a free update for registered users of version 5.x — contacts improvements to mixing with Apple’s Magic Mouse, better performance during Time Machine backups, a fix for reading AAC metadata created by Sound Grinder and Logic Pro, and several other refinements.

MegaSeg is a self-contained DJ music mixing and radio automation system that enables DJs and radio stations to put their music libraries on their Mac and segue or beat mix between songs or music videos, trigger sound effects via hot keys, note requests via color-coded request lists, cue tracks via a second sound output, create dynamic scheduled playlists, and program timed playlist events. MegaSeg has full integration with the iTunes library and playlists, including compatibly with songs bought from the iTunes Music Store.

MegaSeg 5.5 costs US$249 for new users; users of version 1.x through 4.x can upgrade for $79. It’s a Universal Binary app, so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. It requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later. A demo is available for download.
