Apple sold 3.89 million Macs (the most ever) for the fiscal 2010 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 25. That’s over 400,000 more than the company has ever sold before.

According to Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer, the Mac saw double digit growth in both desktops and laptops. Mac growth was strong in each of geographic areas, led by the Asia/Pacific and Japan regions, he adds.

Oppenheimer said the great results were due to strong sales of the iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro. (There was no mention of the Mac mini, Mac Pro or MacBook Air). In fiscal 2010, Apple sold over 13.6 million Macs, 31% year over year growth.
