Xsilva Systems (http://www.xsilva.com) has introduced new way for retailers to engage with their customers and make the sales process more efficient with the release of LightSpeed Mobile, for use with the now available LightSpeed 3.2.

LightSpeed Mobile is a mobile retail extension of LightSpeed, Xsilva’s point of sale platform for the Mac. Retail sales staff can use LightSpeed Mobile to connect to a LightSpeed database and process sales from anywhere in the store with an iPod youch and a Linea Pro “sled” — the same mobile hardware employed by Apple in its retail stores — which adds the ability to scan bar codes and swipe credit cards. Once the payment is approved, customers sign on-screen and receive their receipt instantly by email.

The LightSpeed Mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for US$19.99. It’s an extension of LightSpeed 3.2, the new version of Xsilva’s flagship retail platform now available that features peed improvements in its POS and multi-store processes.

LightSpeed Mobile requires a LightSpeed Server. However, to take advantage of Mobile’s full capabilities, retailers must also purchase the LightSpeed Mobile Hardware Kit for $549. Compatible with the iPod touch 2G and 3G, the kit includes the Linea Pro sled and charging cable.
