You Software has announced the availability of You Control 1.6, the latest version of its utility for creating custom menus on the Mac. This update delivers fixes to provide compatibility with Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) and its new features. For example, the Calendar module in You Control can now read the new Leopard iCal file format for quick access to all of your calendars directly from the menubar. Apple co-defendant settles lawsuit

A co-defendant with Apple has reached a settlement in a patent-infringement suit involving visual voice-mail technology used in the iPhone, reports MarketWatch. “The company, SimulScribe LLC, said it reached a settlement with Klausner Technologies and has entered into a licensing agreement with Klausner to use its visual voicemail patents. Klausner originally filed suit against Apple, AT&T, and other companies on Dec. 3, seeking US$360 million in damages.
