Apple sells about 550,000 iPhones since launch

According to a report in the LA Times today, Apple’s new iPhone sold out in many AT&T retail stores and some users had difficulty getting their new phone activated. “Shoppers snatched up about 525,000 of the devices at Apple and AT&T stores from Friday’s launch through Sunday, said Trip Chowdhry, an analyst at Global Equities Research in San Francisco.” The story also notes that half of the Apple retail stores on the West Coast sold out of the new phones on the first day.
