DVD Sphere ceases development, recommends DVDpedia

After seven years of development, Spherecorner has ceased development of its movie cataloguing application DVD Sphere. To offer DVD Sphere users a new home, Spherecorner is recommending Bruji’s DVDpedia, which all DVD Sphere customers can now obtain for a special 33% discount. Spherecorner says they will be concentrating their resources on their security related software in the future.

Report: Apple to open iPhone for Developers

A report on AP notes that Apple will now allow outside developers to create applications to run on the iPod — this according to an open letter posted by CEO Steve Jobs on its Hot News page. “Apple infuriated developers and some iPhone users when it issued a software update Sept. 27 that disabled unofficial programs installed on the handsets. Until Wednesday, Apple had tried to control which applications consumers had on their iPhones.
